Well Jones is getting better each game. This proves Doug is good at coaching back up QB's. It is what he knows after all..

Funny that Armstead and A Johnson made plays at the end to seal a meaningless victory after sucking all year.

He got the sack last week at DT. He makes plays when playing the position he has played his whole career, imagine that. He's not a free agent, and there is no way the Jags are going to sign him to a long-term contract based on his play this year. It depends on the run blocking scheme they want to run next year. ETN hasn't had the greatest patience or vision as a RB. If DP/PT leave the same running scheme (probably since 4 of the current starting OL are under contract next year), I don't see him being more than member of a RB committee.
Etienne has been like Trevor, for a couple years in a row he was hit behind the line of scrimmage more than any other back in the league and I think that has affected his play. Kinda like the clock in Trevors head was sped up a bit even at times when there was no pressure. Trevor's pass blocking is a different story though and Bigsbys isnt much better.
I think we need to draft another RB this year and one that is good in pass pro. Brashard Smith is on my radar. I think we get a new RG regardless and Ashton Jeanty is the top offensive player on my board. I think if we sign Drew Dalman, draft Ratledge in the 2nd and draft Jeanty in the first this offense could be dominant with a new coach and good health. Id look to add Jake Slaughter or Jared Wilson as well in the mid rounds. If we dont want to go RB in the first id think hard about Smith in the 3rd. Smith is good in pass pro and the best recieving back imo, ex WR. Getting Justin Reid and Byron Murphy could really help this secondary and Ashton Jeany with a good run blocking oline could take this offensce over the top. If they Jeanty as a Saquon Barkley level RB i think there is a high chance we take him.
Running back in the 1st round? For this team? Oh my lord, you really just don't learn.

If they feel like he will be a HOF type RB absolutely, it would be the best thing for Trevor Lawrence. We would have a top 3 WR, an upgrade oline, and the best RB in the league. A dominant run game with an elite RB could take this offense to the next level and finally give some type of comfort for Trevor. You follow up the Jeanty pick with Ratledge in the 2nd or just sign Trey Smith in FA and upgrade that C position to get this run game rolling.

I don't feel that, but no, not when there's other more important positions with equally talented players available. If it's between the next Fred Taylor and the next Jon Ogden then I'm taking Ogden. If it's between Taylor and the next Darrelle Revis I'm taking Revis. If it's between Taylor and the next TJ Watt then I'm taking Watt. Running back isn't in the top 8 of priorities for this team and we've worn out the reasons why it's a bad call in the 1st round. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Where we will be picking it's very possible Jeanty will be the top guy. There is still the college playoffs and combine though so things could change. A few minutes ago Dan Hicken was talking about liking the idea of taking Jeanty in the first. It just depends on how hight they have him rated. If they think he is the next Tomlinson or Fred Taylor he will likely be the pick.

Oh god. A RB in the top 10 when the OL can’t run block? Brilliant idea. ETN and Tank will be just fine when Liam Coen comes to town. You don’t need Jeanty to have a great run game.

You don’t need Jeanty to have a great run game. That's why you upgrade RG and C as well. I like Cohen but he isn't the one out there blocking. If you don't upgrade RG and C the run game will be much of the same regardless of who the new coach is. Cohen won't make Etienne and Bigsby pass block better either.
I'm not even saying he's at the top of my board right now, but I wouldn't be against it.
Interesting discussion regarding Jeanty. While the thought of having BTJ and Jeanty on the same roster may be tantalizing, I'd still have to pass. I just don't see them being able to sign Trey Smith. A coach like Coen will significantly improve the run game even without Jeanty. The best formula for this team, in my opinion, is to hopefully draft Mason Graham (they must lose next week). Graham and Maason Smith on the inside would make things much better for the secondary, Walker and JHA. After that, take Ratledge or whomever they rate the best interior offensive lineman and sign Dalman in free agency. Both lines are now substantially improved. Add in a rotational pass rusher and cornerback to compete with Buster Brown and I'd like this team's outlook for next season.
