Him saying he would have taken the job had he been offered it doesn't mean he didn't tell Khan he wouldn't work here if he couldn't get his pick of GM. All he said was that he was never offered the job, not that he didn't tell Khan he had to dump Baalke.

Correct, but nowhere in there indicates that he wouldn't work with Baalke.  It also sounds like he was never close to getting the job by what he said which makes more sense. If anything it sounds like he would have if offered the job

I think him coming out and say this is just him saying he wasnt that picky like the reports were saying and he would have taken the job regardless if it was offered.

It's possible, but my main point was that we can't assume anything based on the question and answer. All he said is that he was never asked to be the coach and reports about him being the guy and negotiating regarding the GM were false.

Yes, i responded to the guy that said it was an anti Baalke slant and nothing from what Byron said was that.  If anything I would take it the other way from his comments if you put it all together.  Sounds to me like he wasnt as picky in his demands as the media was making him out to be. He wasn't some sought after guy league wide and if any team would give him a shot at HC he would likely take it without demands. The only people he was sought out from were a few Jags fans lol.

Doug robbed BTJ of another TD by not challenging this... Get him out of here already.

I never know what to make of these things.

Because the conversation could have totally been:

- 'If we were to offer you the job, would you be okay with Baalke."
* 'In that hypothetical, I would not be okay with that.'
- 'So if....'

Like all or half of it could have all been true or asked in hypothetical or subtext which allows anyone to say anything or deny anything with a straight face.

This is him trying to get back into football. He's basically been locked out of coaching, it's been reported, because of his ego/attitude. The league seems to all think he did exactly what was reported. The fact that he hasn't been employed since being fired does point to an ego problem where he wouldn't take a position coaching role and look to learn.

You'll have to look elsewhere.

Before the last month, I would say if the board was down, there was a great chance someone was fired. Now the board is down more than up, so just look for the news somewhere else.

Is the rumor that Doug and Baalkie have back up flight reservations home true?

That would have to mean Shad Khan travelled with the team to Indy?

I didn't hear any reports of that. Did you?

It’ll happen. Don’t worry my guy.

The most disappointing season in Jags history will result in the firing of Doug and Trent.

Then they go out and hire Ben Johnson.

The notification probably won't happen untill tomorrow morning or afternoon.  Though I wish they would just make the call now and end the suffering of everyone involved

Interesting timing on this article though, and the anti-Baalke slant. Maybe Leftwich is trying to do us a favor.

Huh? He says he was never offered the job or he would have taken it.  Rumors were were he was offered the job but he declined because he wanted Baalke out and Adrian Wilson as GM and Khan wouldn't do it.

I remember that narrative being put out there.  Who is responsible for it?

I've heard more and more than Dan Campbell was very influential in player selection and block scheme for Detroit's O Line, so I'm getting a bit nervous about how everyone has jumped on the Ben Johnson bandwagon.

Guys like O Connell, Campbell, McVay and McFleur were not considered consensus best HC options the years they were hired.

Lots of talk about Ben Johnson coming to Jacksonville, IE Pete Prisco…
