Would make the most sense. He's worth a 2nd interview though. If you go back and look to when he inherited the offensive play calling duties and then you look at how the personnel has changed in Buffalo with Diggs being out of the picture. It's really hard not to be impressed with him.

He's made Josh Allen an NFL MVP candidate, he's helped get his turnovers down and he's clearly helped establish an identity up there with a penchant for running the football, moving the QB around and getting the TE position involved in the passing game.

He can do similar things here in Jacksonville. He also has a history with talented QB's like Burrow and he's worked with WR rooms at LSU that had Chase and Jefferson in it, so, we know he'll come up with a good scheme to free Brian Thomas Jr. more, AND, there's also a bit of familiarity already with Gabe Davis having worked with him up there. As well as Mitch Morse at center.

This hire really wouldn't bother me nor should it surprise anybody. As it fits a lot of the check marks that Lawrence was asking for and something Khan cited earlier when he said the offense was too predictable. This guy changes that dynamic and we'll see an emphasis on the offensive line more than likely getting beefier.

This 1000%.

Of the 3, he is the one I have the most faith in being adaptable within games, throughout the season (say due to injury), and for playoff match ups. Plus maybe he brings some of the coaches/scouts who helped identify and develop their stout OL that has surprised everyone this year and some good though affordable skills guys.

As good as Ben Johnson and Liam Coen have been, I do worry if they can develop schemes outside the systems they have used and with different/varying roster constructions.

For example, Johnson has been great, but he can relying on a top 3 OL and rushing game all the time, or an elite contested catch guy like Amon Ra. Coen has been great, but they have relied on an elite screen game that may not be replicable with the Jags and may be difficult to replicate every year.

Huh?

He hasn’t even had a 1st interview with the Jags yet.

Talks around Duval is this is going to Ben Johnson with Brunell at OC and Saleh taking DC.

We'll see if it's true.

The annoying thing with the instability of the server, is that I'm expecting some breaking news regarding the search every time it has gone down.

Brunell would be QB coach and passing game coordinator. Ben would still be the play caller.

So true.  It's almost a given that Khan will hire somebody that most of us hate.

It's all fun and games, until he gives Press Taylor the job.

I would not criticize Khan if he went against the grain and it worked. It consistently does not work. Khan maybe able to sell auto parts but his football hiring practice needs major help. It's hard to be the worst team in the league by a country mile since taking ownership in a league full of parity. I put a Quote in another thread of Quoting Khan saying something to the effect that winning doesn't matter because the money keeps flowing in. I try to put myself in his shoes and come to realize it doesn't really matter to him. The Guy is a Billionaire and has all the luxuries in life that anyone would want. I imagine he is banging hot women constantly on that yacht with Champaign on tap. Losing is just a minor annoyance he will quickly forget with a skinny dip with a super model or having a Kobe Wagyu steak dinner to the finest entertainment. As long as the money keeps flowing it is all good. I am not saying the man doesn't deserve it because he built his fortune but the Jaguars losing is nothing more than an afterthought. Owning this team is a hobby he will occasionally play with when something seems broken.

Right now he probably is the acting HC, I don't think he has been fired.

The two Lions coordinators are probably tops on my list, then Saleh, then Spags, then Joe Brady, then Coen.

Saleh was terrible in NY.

NY was terrible, but the question is how much of the terrible was a result of Saleh and how much was other factors?

Dan Quinn went out with a fizzle in ATL. Belichick was stankalicious in CLE.

Prepare thyself. I'm not embracing any optimism until a name is announced. I know better by this point.

If that's true, take the dude off the list, he ain't bright. Even if he's trying to use that as a leverage ploy, man, feign interest in one of the attractive openings.

Exactly. Coen gets a bit of credit, they did have some challenges with injuries to key personnel this year. Johnson though has had an offensive line relatively intact now for years and if you look at the overall investments made there. They have a trio of top 10 - 20 overall draft picks between the LT, OC and RT. Then the LG and RG positions I believed were 2nd and/or 3rd RD investments.

Buffalo has a few good lineman up there. Mainly Dawkins and Torrence that I can think of. It's just the fact that he's shown the ability to change it up when/where needed and he's not afraid to actually tap into what makes Josh Allen special and that's his mobility and his toughness. He's not handicapping his QB with his decision making.

He's actually using that element to his advantage to free his running game up more and get his tight end's open deep and Shakir open underneath. Coleman had his moments as a rookie but I believe Joe Brady can cook some good [BLEEP] up here too. He'll have Brian Thomas Jr., potentially Etienne and Bigsby as a tandem, a set of TE's potentially in Engram and Strange and then we may or may not have Kirk back but I could see him using Washington anyway or Davis to the best of their abilities.

Plus you get free agency and the draft to add more pieces.

Don’t overthink it. Ben Johnson has made Goff an all pro. He is our guy. He will try to build a better line through the draft and free agency

Goff wasn't a bad QB to mold and work with to begin with. People seem to forget he DID get to a Superbowl with McVay and he DID have a crazy [BLEEP] shootout game with Mahomes on MNF that same season or season after.

Goff was a 4600+ yard passer within a year or two in the NFL.
