  • Shad is operating using the least path of resistance like you are stating.
  • Shad is a poor trust of character/expertise/reading people and get's hoodwinked by people like Baalke, Caldwell, Meyer, etc.; especially when he believes he has "found his guy"
  • There is way more going on beyond the scenes as to who is making decisions, the conversations about those decisions, and the timeline of those decisions.

One thing about Shad's press conferences are that, he generally appears to be trying to show confidence and stability. While that could be something you fake if the team is an afterthought for him that he doesn't care about, that scenario seems less likely. Especially given how much effort he has put in with Lamping on the business side of things.

In the last PC, he seemed to show the most amount of frustration with the questions being asked and "the attitude" that the media was showing him regarding the current announcement. That leads me to believe it is some combination of the 2nd and 3rd but it is impossible to know in what ratio.

Speaking of Lamping, I wonder if Lamping gives him any advice on this coaching/GM question.

He is technically the team president so I'm sure he gives some advice.

Also, he has a lifetime in sports management/FO's. Even if he can't break down X's & O's, I'm sure Lamping can get a read on the leadership/management styles and culture characteristics for things to look for or avoid even if most of his "team success" was when he was running the St. Louis Cardinals.

So, according to Hayes Carlyon, he's talked to someone in the know in Detroit, and Ben Johnson is extremely interested in coming to Jacksonville, and he would come here even if Baalke is still here, although there was some suggestion that he, Ben Johnson, would have final say on personnel decisions.

Hayes Carlyon thinks there is now a 75% chance we land Ben Johnson.  Frank Frangie says according to what he has learned from his Jaguars sources, we are in the middle of the 18th fairway with a 3-shot lead.

I won’t expect anything until someone…anyone…is signed.  I’ve seen this [BLEEP] too many times.

My favorite rumor is Johnson as head coach and Saleh returns to Jax as defensive coordinator. Brunell is added to offensive staff (QB coach) and Johnson is given the power over Baalke on personnel decisions. This would also help attract free agents like Chris Godwin and Drew Dalman.

Two of the top candidates to watch for the Jaguars job according to
@RapSheet: Lions DC Aaron Glenn and OC Ben Johnson.

Lamping has given Khan feedback, I know this personally. I don't think he has said who to hire but he definitely informs him of the fans' views on the team. All the ticket sales, advertising, etc have shown the poor fan feelings on the team.

It doesn't appear Khan has listened but I do know the message has been shared.

This is a very strong possibility.

I would be ecstatic.

Reports out of SF indicate the 49ers are preparing to make Saleh the highest paid DC in history.

Robert Saleh to receive record contract offer from the San Francisco 49ers.

After seeing the takes that Shad is dumb and there is no hope, makes me glad the board crashes so much to save me from reading that garbage.

Oh come now, that is a tad unfair. How long have you been a fan? Honestly the history is the problem fueling a lot of the negativity. If we had only survived the Gus and Caldwell problem, but no, we had the Urbz and all the current extended pain.

Have patience with the fans we have been crushed a bunch.

Since inception.   Was attending games in the inaugural season and have seen every minute of virtually every game since 1995... and I left Jax in 1999.

The Jags have as many or more playoff wins (8) than half the league since then.  More than the bills (7), bengles (5), texans (6), etc.

We were one stolen game away from the Superbowl.  (new england)  Many teams have never been in the same universe as that possibility.

It can always be worse.  Could you imagine being a browns fan?
