Jalen Carter just proved how flipping important a stud DL, specifically a stud DT, is to winning big games. I very much hope we go IDL in the first round.

Bummer Eagles almost choked that away... Must be nice to have untouched free rushing towards the opposing QB.

I see it the same way. I believe LA would have today if the weather was better.

Man that PI call was [BLEEP] and was offensive PI if anything as the receiver clearly extended his arms pushing the defender away and to the ground.. And it led to a TD for the Bills just before halftime. Major swing decided by the opinion (and a bad one at that) of one guy wearing stripes on the field. These garbage calls that affect games need to be reviewable in the worst way.

I wanted the Bills to win, but I hated seeing Balitmore lose like that.

Yeah that was the worst PI call I've seen in a while.  Turns out to maybe be the difference in the game.  If Buf is held to an FG there, the Ravens don't go for 2 at the end, and you have Buf getting the ball back with about 90 seconds to play and down 3 points.

I don't see how you make PI reviewable with current replay technology though.  It's a judgement call in the first place and there won't ever be enough "evidence" to overturn the call on the field with video alone.

It's going to remain the big flaw in most big games until we get some out of the box thinking. One idea is make the penalty five yards, repeat the down, plus the offending player is disqualified for the next three plays, plus 10 seconds back on the clock.  That way the defense still gets penalized, but the offense still needs to actually complete a pass to get into scoring position.

Another idea is strap 3d motion tracking pucks to players' shoulders, elbows and wrists, and let AI come up with an objective threshold for the arm movements associated not just with PI but also holding in general. Basically let the computers become the refs. Fans are already accepting it in baseball, don't know if they would ever accept it in football.

Until then you just have to deal with this very small number of random but huge calls changing the outcomes of games.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

Maybe. Buffalo could go in there and win that game I think. I think Philadelphia lives and dies by Barkley. If the Commanders can scheme up correctly and take away half of what he normally does? They have a shot to upset them and shock the world.

Would love nothing more than a Buffalo Vs. Washington Superbowl. I do not want a rematch of Kansas City Vs. Philadelphia. It's highly likely, but, man, would really like to see Buffalo Vs. Washington. Jayden Daniels has been outstanding for a rookie. He's turning into the NFC's Lamar Jackson, but, his passing abilities and decision making are a lot more advanced for a rookie than Lamar's was.

That kid is absolutely terrifying.

For the record, the in-game announcers were complaining about the terrible calls in their post-game wrap-up.  So it's certainly much more than 'sour grapes' from just the Texans fans.  I've said it already but the fact that Mahomes is abusing the rules will end up in a bad result for the game of football.

He may be, but I have seen all the playoff QB's do basically the same thing. This time of year they will all ham it up or seek any edge they can. It's playoff football.  As for the hit on Mahomes where the two Texans collided? Well my impression was it was not called based on a helmet hit. It was based on the forearm the defensive player put under Mahomes chin. Much like what a Texan did to TL here.

Really?  If you're comparing those two hits then you're talking nonsense.  Yes, he hit Mahomes under his chin...directly in his chest.  There was no head snapback indicating that his arm rose.  The second one Mahomes scrambled, scrambled, then ducked just before he was tackled...and the helmet to helmet was between the two defenders.  Finally, watch the going out of bounds play, he literally stopped at the sideline trying to draw the penalty before he took a monstrous flop.

Have other QBs done it, maybe, but certainly not to that level.  To take rulings that are meant to protect a QB and trying to use them to get positive yards off of a penalty is going to result in bad things.

So why do they have it ‘fixed’ for Washington to be in it?

Out of curiosity, what does the NFL have to gain by ‘fixing’ it so Kansas City wins three straight.  Seems to me it would make way more sense to fix it where a large market team like New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, or Houston wins it.

This should be good.

"Because the directors and officers of companies that have already inked long term endorsement deals with Chiefs players also advertise with the NFL and also invest in sports books."

I haven't researched that specifically, but, I would be shocked if it wasn't basically true.
