Interestingly the betting odds currently favor Saleh. Wink

Where are the odds you are looking at?  Whats the odds for Saleh and Coen?

Well, all the sites probably rank it differently but this is the one that came up first when I googled it.

The longer this thing plays out the better odds are that we like Joe Brady so im hoping we dont hear about signing a HC anytime soon. I think Brady could be getting a SB ring as well so it might take a couple weeks.

If we could get Saleh and Mike LaFleur left the Rams to come here with him I would be good with that althought id rather get Spags or Brady

Perhaps you should know all lines arent the same and this was from 2 days ago.  Ben Johnson is still on that one lol

Perhaps you are blind and didn’t see the line ‘one of many’?  Or were you too dumb to understand that?

LOL

The Jags are going to offer the job to Coen. Even the Bucs are preparing for that to happen

Spags would be a great hire.  Who do you want?

Yeah, that thought crossed my mind.  They were very deliberate and took their time last time around, so I would have the same expectation this time.  Interpret it as due diligence or incompetence however you wish.

If we dont hire anyone over the weekend I think the chances of Joe Brady at HC are higher.

Dude is 11-41 as a HC. He is a great DC but not HC material.

I want Deion Sanders or Eddie George... haha just kidding...

I wanted O'Connell when we hired Doug. This time I don't know tbh, I have not watched much football lately. I think Johnson was the only guy who looked good imo.

Worst hires would be Saleh or Spagnuolo.
Coen would be like an Arthur Smith imo (hopefully I am wrong)
Don't trust Monken
Glenn meh
I would honestly take McCarthy over them and I don't even like him that much. I saw a comparison with Tomlin and they are pretty much the same guy (results wise)
I feel like Joe Brady I think could be great or terrible
Brian Flores, I dislike the guy but I think he could be better than Monken, Coen, Glenn, Spagnuolo or Saleh
2 guys that I would interview would be Anthony Weaver and Josh McCown

I just know Khan will probably make the worst hire anyway... and with Baalke here I don't think it matters much.

Coen gives you Arthur Smith vibes? How so?

If the Jags hire Saleh or someone else after missing on the top targets, the local media should just skip the press conference. No reason to show up or show up and ask Khan who the next HC will be and what year he is planning to fire Saleh.

I'd rather have a defensive-centric coach with a good OC, but the problem is that you continually have to replace that OC as he gets tabbed for HC jobs. First they have to find a guy then they have no real hope of keeping him long term. That's why an offensive-minded coach is probably the better play, you don't lose the system when the assistants move on. But you still have to find high quality assistants, especially on the other side of the ball. I'd like Glenn or Flores, but for the OC problem. I'd like Brady if we're doing the unknown, McCarthy if it's a retread.

I don't think we took forever to hire Doug by choice. We interviewed him in December because he was out of a job and was basically the only guy we could interview by the rules. I believe they put him on the back burner and moved on at that point.

Then we interviewed everyone else, including making major overtures with Leftwich, before crawling back to Doug because no one else wanted to work with Baalke.

That appears to have been a media creation if you factor in Leftwich's recent comments.  He was never offered the job and would have taken it in an instant with no qualifiers had it been according to him.  From all available information, the most logical conclusion is the Jags were just doing their due diligence (or being incompetent if you prefer) and not looking to rush a hire of anyone.

I agree with the part in bold as I think defensive guys value the importance of dominating the line of scrimmage and playing physical football moreso than offensive guys do. However if we hired an offensive guy with the same mindset I'd be happy with that as well.  Ultimately I just want a guy who wants to build the lines and prioritizes always being the more physical team.

No idea if Liam Coen fits that. Looks like the Bucs became a great rushing team so hopefully that is a sign he does.

What I don't like about Brady is he is in the booth (skybox), not on the field. Is he really ready to become a HC by spending all his time in the booth? He gets zero on field, in game moments with the players in real time. Also- Honest question, no idea, what happens at half time? Do coordinators who are booth coordinators, take an elevator ride down to the locker room to talk? Will his ability to playcall be affected due to him not being in the skybox to see the whole field?
