Coen appears to get the best out of the players he has. If you look at the numbers at UK, they improved when he was there, went down when he left, and then went back up when he came back.

So the Jags could definitely use that as a play caller.

Then we interviewed everyone else, including making major overtures with Leftwich, before crawling back to Doug because no one else wanted to work with Baalke.

That appears to have been a media creation if you factor in Leftwich's recent comments.  He was never offered the job and would have taken it in an instant with no qualifiers had it been according to him.  From all available information, the most logical conclusion is the Jags were just doing their due diligence (or being incompetent if you prefer) and not looking to rush a hire of anyone.

I don't believe Leftwich's comments, too many people reported it and he didn't refute it for years. I think he made a power play and lost because being in the NFL is a tiny fraternity and you have to play by the rules. He's essentially been blackballed ever since while other similar guys like Bienemy keep getting jobs (and technically even promotions) despite failing, also being a minority, having major off field skeletons. Now Leftwich wants back in so he's saying what he has to say to get back in good graces.

Wow, we're in major trouble now. Brady or bust?

Confirmed.  The Bucs keep Coen with a huge new contract making him the highest paid coordinator in the league.

WHAT NOW???

How does it just get more embarrassing every year, what did we do to anger the football gods this way?

Yep I think Leftwich is saying different now because no one will hire him. He is trying to get a job.

The best job available and no coach wants it ...... when will Khan start using his brain and think logically what is causing it.

This is Shad's fault. He wanted to keep Baalke.

Wow. It's really starting to look like the naysayers are right. People are turning us down. It's an NFL head coaching job, and people are turning it down.

I think Saleh would be fine.  But everyone said we were looking for an offensive guy.

I think success will depend on what coordinators he can hire.

Called it since he got let go from NY. There are just too many parallels to ignore.

Shad sort of also hinted at it with his "this will not be a Aaron Rodgers situation with the Jets here" comment. He is very close friends with Rob Salad, and they have been communicating since 2017.

Saleh would have been the worst of the acceptable choices if he was hired because they thought he was truly the right guys. He is not an acceptable option simply because he is the only one willing to work with Baalke.

Yea. Think I'm done now.

The Jags missing out on their top 2 candidates, one of which went back to being an OC!, has officially broken me. This should have been the easiest offseason in Jags history. Fire Baalke and Doug. Start fresh with Ben Johnson or Liam Coen with a new GM. Breath some life back into this dumpster fire of a franchise. It was so simple. And they blew it. They'll try to spin this as "It was always Saleh. He was our first choice." When we all know he wasn't. Both Coen and Johnson said the setup wasn't for them and it's so obvious it's Baalke.

Add on top of that the board being just as unstable as this franchise? Yea. Have a good offseason everyone.
