If I’m Khan, I’d hire Spielman as EVP to run the coaching search (he helped Washington) and keep Waugh on as head scout but remove the interim GM title so he wouldn’t get his hopes up. Then, after the dust settles, let Spielman find a GM compatible with the new coach who both report to Spielman.

I agree.  Khan desperately needs an EVP to help him with these decisions.  Spielman would be great.  Tony Boselli would be probably not as great, but still good.

Nope. Boselli is off my list 100% now with the way he was trying to blame everyone but Baalke. Said Baalke wasn’t the reason the Jags were missing out on top candidates when it was so clear he was.

Thanks to Boselli the player but no thanks on EVP. Kick rocks.

Can you post a link?

Here's a little sales pitch for 4 other guys.

Looking at candidates who the Jaguars could target to replace GM Trent Baalke

Lance Newmark for GM and Kliff Kingsburry for HC would be a nice package deal.

I think we need to interview Alec Halaby. Hes would be young for GM but he is Howie Roseman's protege. Roseman is an amazing GM and a great drafter.

The last day to opt out of Season Ticket Renewal was January 17. Perhaps Shad got a look at the non-renewal numbers and related comments and took action as well.

Totally speculating here:

John Oehser seems to have dropped a hint that something is about to happen. In today's column-

"I'm expecting good things. Maybe really good things. Stay tuned."

This makes me think they're about to announce Tony Boselli is the new EVP.

Or maybe nothing. It just seems like an unusual thing for Oehser to say.

That's good that he's listening to the voice of the fans and scary for the same reason, lol.

Kingsbury is at the top of his ability as an OC, I wouldn't consider him for more than that.

The craziest thing about Baalke is he had this fetish for arm length, size, great athletes etc. He didnt give 2 [BLEEP] about how good of a football player one is. Its good to have those things and they are a plus but how good are they and are they good at football. We should be trying to get the best football players and ballers not the best athlete, longest, or biggest player. He is a [BLEEP] moron and i actually think he is somewhat [BLEEP].

If he was drafting all these crazy athletes all these years and longest armed players and they killed it is one thing, but has he ever even drafted 1 All Pro player? BTJ is probably his best draft pick ever and he traded back and then got him so if we knew he would be as good as he is he wouldnt have traded back because someone could have easily taken him. After all these years with his trash drafts and misses on all these great players because they didnt meet the measurement requirements he had you think he would revise and change the way he looks at things and the way he drafts because his draft philosophy sucked. Size, length, and being the best athlete is all great but all of that come secondary to being good at football. Being a baller is the most important part and we missed on Hutch because his arm legth was 1" to short. He should have been fired on that alone.

Oesher and Boselli are both employed by the franchise, folks expecting them to not repeat the company talking points aren't being realistic. They are company men.

Good for you. Id be very happy with Newmark at GM and Kingburry for HC.  Kingsbuyy would be great for Trevor imo and I think he learned alot in 6 years since being hired as the Cardinals HC.

I read Oehser all the time, and that's an unusual thing for him to say.

But- maybe it's nothing.  I'm usually wrong about things, so you might be right.

Agreed. Desperately need an EVP to keep pulse on the football side. Clearly Shad just isn't as involved as he needs to be. He had the right idea when he brought in coughin but hired the wrong guy. You don't want an EVP who involves themselves in decisions as their self interest could come into a play. Needs more of an advisor. A guy who let's the coach and gm do their thing while also keeping Shad abreast of what is happening with the team and the league itself. Want a guy who is as impartial as possible and plays a 3rd party role.  Shad can still makes decisions on GM and coaches but needs the advisor to provide top candidates, pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses, and offer suggestions where needed.

I like what Kliff says here.

https://www.nfl.com/news/commanders-oc-k...some-point

Kingsbury's work with Williams and prior head-coaching experience make him a fascinating potential candidate in Chicago. He had only one playoff appearance in four seasons with the Cardinals, with a record of 28-37-1 (.432). But Kingsbury said he's learned from Commanders head coach Dan Quinn -- presumably one of the NFL's Coach of the Year frontrunners, too -- and has realized where he might have misstepped during his time in Arizona.

"I don't think I set the foundation the way I would do it after watching DQ and how he set the foundation (in Washington) from Day One," Kingsbury said. "These are the standards, this is what we want, this is what we're going to be.

"I definitely could have done a better job of that, and kind of once you don't lay it out like that, it's hard to put it back in."
