He knew that a large portion of the Twitter accounts were bots and duplicates, so he started charging a small monthly fee to get verified. It wasn't to make money. It was a validation process to ensure the person behind the account was real because they had to provide a credit card number and an email. I think you should forward this advice to Elon. He ll probably appreciate it. Maybe in the same email you can also advise him on how to build a better rocket or electric car, or revive a failing business.

Just because he's good at one thing doesn't mean he's good at everything. Twitter is worse off now than it was before. Their revenue fell by about half after Elon's changes and even though their costs have been cut significantly, they are still not making a profit.

And yet the societal benefit of having X be a platform that recognizes free speech is incalculable. Musk and us non-indoctrinated Americans agree that's a perfectly fine trade off, so it makes sense that "Republican" Mikesez doesn't understand. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

Private companies usually don't let outsiders know this. There are expert's opinions out there but no facts I know of since Twitter as a private company files no public reports. It has dropped in estimated value, but that is just a write off for Musk. You must be in possession of actual information, I had no idea you were that important (or criminal). Musk is evaluating whether or not the government has too many employees. After what he has seen in the SSI database a prudent person would want to know if all these employees are actually real/living people, have other jobs, just not working. That is NOT to be found on any balance sheet as you implied earlier. Re listen to the cabinet meeting when he was asked that. He gave a pretty good answer. You said "Just because he's good at one thing doesn't mean he's good at everything." If I had to choose whether to believe you or Musk at this point I would choose Musk. Not sure about others here, that is just me. Nothing personal.... ![]()

Information about how well government departments are working would not be found on a balance sheet. Private businesses go off of balance sheets, But government departments are more about duties, and powers, and the satisfaction of the stakeholders and the voters. Wait so private companies are supposed to pursue societal benefits? I thought we called that ESG and DEI and it was all to be avoided or at the very least completely subsumed to pursuit of the almighty dollar.

Then why on post #178 did you say look at the balance sheet while we are talking about government agencies? Personally, when analyzing labor I prefer the associated income statement (Cost statement with gov as departments are actually cost centers.) I am believing the others now, you really do not understand.

Elon needs to provide her with around the clock security. This is the point most people are missing. Trump was elected because he partnered with Elon and promised to do this. He tried the first time but was denied by Democratic rage and obstructionism. He was also a inner beltway newbee and made those mistakes. Trump and Elon by their own admissions are like all of us, they are not perfect. Elon in fact said as much at the cabinet meeting. He also said when that happened they would correct it quickly. So just get over it guys/gals you are not perfect either. This is a non partisan event unfolding. It looks partisan only because the Dem's leadership refuses to embrace it and have another agenda the voters do not want.

Federal worker says that DOGE emails asking to report the five accomplishments of the week is harassment 'It's very hard to keep your train of thought when you're getting threatened and harassed like that' A federal worker described the DOGE emails requiring employees to report their five accomplishments of the week as threatening and harassing. "It came out wanting us to justify our jobs with five things we did," Cathy, a federal worker, told MSNBC in an interview at a town hall in Haymarket, Virginia last week. "Last week was on Saturday night, and I was literally working on Saturday night to make up for all the distractions I had had the previous week, which came from the executive branch," Cathy stated. "And so I'm working, trying to catch up on things, and then I get that email on top of it. It's very hard to keep your train of thought when you're getting threatened and harassed like that." https://www.foxnews.com/media/federal-wo...harassment ![]()
