The Jaguars have historically been positive expectations shatterers. Expect playoffs or better at your own peril.

Honestly this season is one of the least excited I've been in quite a long time. Typically we sign a few high priced free agents and feel like the team is moving in the right direction with more times than not it just failing and falling on its face. This year the off season so far has been very underwhelming. Currently its tough to be very optimistic at this point in the offseason. I would like to think a good draft will fix that, but more than likely it will be a few seasons before we really know if this draft was good.

I have nothing against Coen, but I really envisioned us getting Ben Johnson and overhauling our O-line like the Bears have. It may or may not work out for them, but its what I wanted to see happen here.

Overall it feels like a different approach than we have seen in our past. I'm willing to give it a chance. The biggest positive is the fact my hopes aren't up. So if it doesn't do well, I wont be that upset.

Good advice. The Jags do thing in a way all their own.  I did hear our new coach say he wasn't worried about losing the off season. He would rather win football games in season.  (I paraphrase, for you detail oriented people)  Is a good thing cause I can't see us winning the off season as we are too far behind ...Wink

My expectations is for our Jaguars to continue w/the rebuilding process that has begun. So far we have a New HC, New GM a New VP and an Revamped OL and now our concentration is on the 2025 NFL Draft. We as fans cannot expect much at the point of where our franchise is at to this point and time because we all have different expectations. Some of us fan's expectation will become legit while others won't. I learned to not expect the expected because I/we The fans have No Control on what and how our Jaguars conduct their business on or off the field of play. I always reserve my expectations until the first four games of the regular season.

Time Will Tell.

I expect Fox to air Failcon games locally instead of Duval games when we host an NFC team. I expect to say very unfriendly things about our local Fox affiliate.

I expect to watch games and cheer for the team I love.

I expect other commitments to occasionally prevent me from watching games live, but I expect YTTV to record the games for later viewing.

I don't hinge my emotions to the W-L record. Ask Vic said, I like to watch. If the team is awful, I will find something else to occupy my time; I doubt they will be awful.

My expectations are quite low, but we shall see after the draft. I had hoped the free agency acquisitions would have been higher quality, and the release of Engram and Kirk has not helped the passing game.

Of the 8 free agent offensive free agent signings, the only one I feel improves the position is Mekari at guard. Hainsey was a mediocre at best starter that lost his job last season. Dyami Brown has upside when viewing the recent playoffs, but has largely been a disappointment during his rookie contract. The other 5 offensive players signed are and should continue to be backups.

Of the 2 defensive free agent, I really liked the Lewis signing at nickel. The Murray signing at safety was for a mediocre vet to bring stability and cut down the experienced errors at the position (an improvement but doesn't move the needle much).

I am expecting us to be pretty terrible but nothing really surprises with this team. Usually when expectations are low we exceed them so maybe it's a good thing? I don't know it feels like we're just yoloing with a depleted roster and a questionable, unproven coaching staff.

Without guys like Jimmy Smith, Fred Taylor, Mark Brunell, Tony Brackens, Donovin Darius, I stay in “wait and see” mode. You knew what those guys would give you every game.

Hines-Allen has the God given talent to be that guy, but he’s too inconsistent. He can wreck a game-plan and dominate in spurts. I’d like to see the DC move him and Trevon Walker all around that defensive line this season. Hines-Allen is your premier star player that can be special.

On offense it’s all about Lawrence. Only player in franchise history with an MVP vote back in 2022. This will be his 3rd or 4th coach, I’ve lost count. But he’s obviously our star player on that side of the football, along with Brian Thomas. Big things ahead for Thomas, who will be heading into this season looking for back to back 1,000 yard seasons. Dude can take the top off with that 4.3 speed. I like to see him punish the smaller DBs in the run game, and hoping he goes back to the Pro Bowl again in 2025.

Anton Harrison is another “could be a special player” who just turned 23 years old. Kid still has a ton of football ahead of him. Again, new coach, new system but heading into his 3rd season you would like to see him become a pro bowl level player on that right side or left side depending on which way they want to go.

Bigsby was a breath of fresh air last season and has cleaned up a lot of things and he’s put Etienne on notice. Nothing special but can break one here and there. Same thing with Etienne.

Cam Little quietly had a stellar rookie season kicking the ball.

If we land Travis Hunter I would officially be out of “wait and see” mode.

Last year we had a 7 win team that had enough bad breaks and bad luck to lose 3 games they should have won.
So far, this year's team is a bit worse. The players we gained in free agency are probably not as good as the ones we lost. Even so, today's team should win 5 or 6 games. With luck they could win 7 or 8.
That could all change with the draft. If we get a couple of disrupters on D, (S, CB, or DT - we have enough talent at DE and LB) they might create more turnovers and sacks and bring more wins. Even better, if we get a couple of road graders on the OL, they could finally allow #1 or #4 to really run wild like we know they can. And that would change everything. A play action pass to BTJ would actually work and be the dagger for a few more wins. Those guys are available. Just gotta avoid picking players we already have and avoid picking players who won't pan out.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

That playaction pass up top to Thomas sounds nice, his speed puts a lotta pressure defenses.
