I think Toby Gerhart is going to shock some people

Quote:I get your point but stats do not lie. I'm just stating historical facts. I like your perspective above .... it give me hope that Steve Nash is going to win the dunk contest. Is Steve Nash taller, or older than Spud Webb? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Possibly, but you risk losing him to another team at that point. Throwing the Eagles a 5th or 6th rounder in exchange for Brown is crumbs. With "THE CLOSER", we don't risk losing anyone.
Heath Evans put him at #1 on his top free agent acquisitions at Running Back this off-season.
No pain, no gain.
A 2nd round pick with low mileage and proven he can be an effect rusher. What is not too like? I would rather have Gerhart right now than MJD.

Isn't he now what MJD was while sitting behind Freddy? An effective rusher who flashes a lot with low mileage on him? That's exactly what MJD was before Fred got cut and MJD made the starter. We just did the same thing we did with MJD except we signed him from another team and he's white. I like the move.

Gerhart is no where near the talent level of MJD or Fred Taylor. I am not sure he is capable to be a feature RB, a backup probably. Chris Johnson, on the other hand, can be a work horse. Maybe the team should have wait ...

Maybe the team should have wait ... Gerhart is considerably better than CJ at this stage in their respective careers. Whether or not Gerhart can stay healthy carrying 300+ times a year is an open question but he hasn't given any reason to think he can't.
I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

We could have overpaid for CJ0K who got flat out cut by a team with no certainty at running back... it's crap like that that puts a team in the dog house for years.
No pain, no gain.
Hey I'm a huge CJ fan but he's not the same back he was. Everytime he runs the ball he cuts to outside looking for big play. He doesn't hit the whole strong any longer. I do hope he signs with NFC team because with better coaching maybe he gets back to old self.

I never said that he's at the same level talent wise as MJD was. I'm saying he's coming from the same situation that MJD was. He was the backup to Adrian Peterson so he didn't see that many touches. My point is that he's talented and doesn't have a lot of wear on him.
People who say he'll never be this or that can you please provide the basis for that statement? He's literally unproven, and the starting time that he does have supports the opinion that he can be a workhorse back. So to say he'll be nothing but a third down back seems completely unfounded.

Is Toby gerhart going to remind us of young Fred Taylor? Probably not, but I do like the signing and think he will have a 1,000 yard rushing season with 3-400 receiving yards.
No commercial messages in sigs

don't know if it was mentioned but I saw on NFL Network the other day, LT calling Toby the best RB signed in FA.
Quote:Dont see it.His hands and ability to catch the ball out of the backfield are one of his greatest assets. Knowing what we know of Fisch - I imagine Gerhart will easily have opportunity to catch for 300+ yards if he's on the field for 65% of the offensive snaps. Much like my UConn huskies did time to shock the world and shut up the haters
Quote:Dont see it. He's averages 150 yards a season in limited time behind AP. I don't think twice that would be difficult given a fulltime role. |
