Yet, there D is that of a pop Warner team. You can have Manning as QB there, that team with that D would still come up short.

For the Jags to move back to 10 from 3, I'd be only willing to do it for their (Detroit's) 2nd rounder in 2014, their 3rd rounder in 2014, plus their 1st rounder in 2015. 

 

I don't see them prepared to pay that. 

If there isn't a franchise QB there in Caldwell's eyes and especially if Clowney is gone, I'd do that in a heartbeat.

I gotta be honest, while I do like the idea of bringing in a haul of draft picks, it just seems like #10 will put us out of some really good players. I don't even think Barr will be around by that point, and he's at the fringe of the that "really really good player" level.

 

If the team were to drop to #10, who are they targeting?

They do have a good front 7 yes, but there secondary is horrid, if and that's a big if they can improve that secondary they could be a great team.  You also have Caldwell as coach so that adds another big IF

The Ravens could have taken Flacco at pick 8 but instead they traded down and got more picks and still drafted Flacco. Why take a player before you need to? You can maximize your value by trading down to where the pick fits.

They ended up having to trade back up for him though. Essentially they netted Tavaris Gooden who was a non factor. They basically took him at 8.

Just because they didn't use their draft pick wisely doesn't meant it wasn't worth it. Also that was before the new CBA so they saved a ton of money in the trade.

Very true. I know many people who think #3 is way to high to pick Bridgewater or Manziel, but in the same breath will talk about Bridgewater and Manziel being selected by the Browns, Raiders, Vikings, etc, just 1 or 2 or 3 picks later. :blink:

Giving up the 13th least amount of points and 17th least amount of yards in 2013 is that of a pop Warner team?   What does it say for the 19 teams that gave up more points and the 15 teams that gave up more yards???

The Jags should indeed try to maximize the value of pick # 3.   But you are right,  the Lions aren't going to give up that much for the rights to Sammy Watkins or any player in the draft.  

 

Each draft has different dynamics.  Yet,  it's worth keeping in mind that in the 2013 Draft,  Oakland only got a 2nd Round pick from Miami from trading down from pick # 3 to pick # 12.   The Raiders ended up selecting Houston CB D.J. Hayden with pick # 12.
