Is It The Qb Or The Talent Around The Qb?
|
Throw in coaching. Cassel was well prepared by BB to step in when he did. Also, give a glance to Brian Hoyer, Patriots backup QB for a few years- undrafted and played pretty darn good when he finally got the chance with Cleveland. Makes you womder about Ryan Mallet's potential. This year's Patriots also feature 7 rookies and 7 UDFAs.
OTOH, look at the rookie development under Jack Del Rio. One bust or unfulfilled rookie after another.
Season Ticket holder since 2004.

Quote:Good point! I always struggle with where to put Eli Manning. He won 2 Championships but if he were the Jags QB they wouldn't be any better off. Eli might be a great "big game" QB.....but he doesn't have the kind of elite consistency that would earn him the term of "elite QB" in the NFL. As said, it might be "both", but nowhere near 50/50 kind of "both"......More like 80/ 20 kind of "both".

Quote:Eli probably isn't as good as you think he is...I don't particularly think he is all that good. Does that not add even more to the both side of the question?

It's not 50/50. But I think I would go 60/40. Look at last years SB teams?
The 49ers got to the NFC title game the year before with Alex Smith. The Ravens won with Joe Flacco. Neither QB would have prevented the Jags from 0-4. Heck, Flacco threw 5 INTS last week against Buffalo! We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:It's not 50/50. But I think I would go 60/40. Look at last years SB teams? I think the above lends credence to PF* 's post where he brought up coaching.... So maybe we need to divide it up even more so.... something like 50/ 25/ 25 (QB/ coaching/ rest of team)
Question?
How many QBs in the NFL would have kept the Jaguars from being 0-4? Think about it? Russel Wilson-No Joe Flacco-No Andrew Luck-No I'm not even sure Drew Brees would have made a difference. I think Manning, Brady, and Rodgers are the only QBs that would have won a game for the Jaguars in the first 4 weeks. So the Jags aren't looking for a franchise QB. But a HOF greatest of all time QB. That's a big hurdle. And it shows how difficult Gabberts job really is. Despite the criticism against him, there are really only 3 or 4 QBs in the NFL that would have made a difference in the Jags record so far. The Jags problems are bigger than just at QB. Good thread topic!
Quote:Question? Wilson - Yes, Luck - yes, Brees - Yes.....Flacco - No. That Raiders game was only lost by 10 points. I think any one of those QB would have won that one. ....and btw,Bridgewater will be the kind of difference-making QB you speak of.
It's easily both. Peyton would literally be crushed in this offense--probably by Will Rackley.

Quote:It's easily both. Peyton would literally be crushed in this offense--probably by Will Rackley. no....no he wouldn't. He may have more incompletions on the Jags offense, but he's simply too good to just sit there hold the ball & get crushed. Quote:Put it this way....The answer to the question might "technically" be -both- but it isn't like a "50-50" split kinda "both". I agree with this...
Is this thread serious? Put Gabbert on the New England Patriots or Denver Broncos and see what happens.
Did you watch the Bills game last night? The second EJ went down and that bum Tuel (who reminds me of Gabbert) came in they Bills chances of winning were completely over. All offense stopped. I have Fred Jackson on my fantasy team and he was RACKING up points, so was Spiller. As soon as Tuel Bag came in, that all stopped as they failed to get more than I think 1 first down with him at center. My girlfriend is a huge Bills fan being from Buffalo and once she started complaining I couldn't help but notice it was all of a sudden like watching a Jags game. Thats what happens when your QB is garbage, they stack the box, stop the run and all offensive production stops. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Question? You're way off. Jaguars main problem is QB. They can't drive or score. A first down is a rare event. A 3rd down conversion...You have a better chance of being struck by lightning while being hit by a bus driven by a purple colored midget.
We have the worst QB roster in the entire NFL prior to Thursday night. After the injuries to thier QB Buffalo is probably as bad as we are at that position.
Quote:if it was peyton manning yes would be a playoff contenderare you kidding me? brady is a better qb than manning he just never has but one decent wr every year.manning has atleat 2 wr that are elite players every year while for example brady this year has nothing but yet they keep winning and get even better every week.breese is also a elite qb who can do what brady and manning could do you know nothing about football that much is obvious!!!!! Quote:Is this thread serious? Put Gabbert on the New England Patriots or Denver Broncos and see what happens.Do the same with ours, and Brady/Manning would be faking season ending injures just to get out of this situation. That is, if they didn't suffer a legit season ending injury first. This team has little nothing going for it until we add talent at Qb, AND all round it. Otherwise, we'd remain 0-4 just like the Giants and Steelers.

Quote: In Tuel's defense, he is an undrafted rookie who has no business being a backup. Gabbert is a third year, top ten pick.

Quote:Do the same with ours, and Brady/Manning would be faking season ending injures just to get out of this situation.Yes, please lets do that with Brady or Manning... and watch our team instantly become contendors. You know why? Because everybody plays harder when they believe the QB can lead them to a victory and sees them making plays. Even the Defense plays harder because they know if they get the opposing teams O off the field their QB will do some more good things. Nobody on the Jags gives a flying F... thats obvious. This team isn't playing hard right now, whey would they? Is anybody on our defense going to risk their career so Gabbert can have another 3 and out drive? C'mon Man! |
