I'd like TMD to coulda would shoulda him in person. Dude is a beast of a human forget football.

His son plays in the same flag football league as my son. Seeing him in person, it's hard to even phathom that a human could be that big. He's 250 and has less than 5% body fat.

Greg Jones doesn't do push ups. He pushes the earth down.

Oh please, if you and some of the other "beast" fans would be honest, you'd admit your loyalties are deeper to Fla State Greg Jones than anything he did with the Jags anyway.....hell, even the highlights that someone provided were from Fla State....

Greg Jones with the Jags was simply overrated. Always has been. Thats why my responses have usually been tepid regarding him. He was never a "beast" for the Jags. Decent FB? Sure. Beast? lolz, no.

Just because he is built never translated to being an elite NFL player. For some reason, some on here never seemed to get that. Otherwise, Hulk Hogan would have been an NFL star back in the day.

Great player. Did the dirty work for this team for a long time, the camera never follows the FB. And he was a dominant run blocker in his day.

<p style="font-size:13px;font-family:helvetica, 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);">A few weeks ago former Jaguars defensive end Reggie Hayward stopped by the locker room to say hello to his old teammates. When Hayward approached fullback Greg Jones, the first thing he mentioned was a bruising block Jones threw on Cowboys safety (and former Jaguar) Gerald Sensabaugh.

<p style="font-size:13px;font-family:helvetica, 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif;color:rgb(0,0,0);">"That was wrong," Hayward said, appreciatively.

It's one of the reasons the Jaguars believe he's one of the best blocking fullbacks in the NFL, if not the best.

Jones was nothing short of a very good fullback when with the Jags. Sure his best days are behind him but to sat he was overrated here as a fb is disingenuous, to be nice. There was a time there he was one of the best, if not the best blocking fullback in the league, and a huge reason the run game was very good.

This is the best Greg Jones story. Although Dockett denies it, I tend to believe it is true.

This is as told by Chris Rix:

<p class="" style="font-family:'Mercury SSm A', 'Mercury SSm B', Georgia, serif;color:rgb(41,41,41);font-size:16px;font-style:italic;">

Quote:<p class="" style="font-family:'Mercury SSm A', 'Mercury SSm B', Georgia, serif;color:rgb(41,41,41);font-size:16px;font-style:italic;">Speaking of dorm rooms, we're hanging out at Burt Reynolds Hall, which is the dorm where underclassmen stay at Florida State. My room was right next to Greg Jones' room. They're hanging out playing video games, Madden was just getting big at this time, and we had both of our doors open.

<p class="" style="font-family:'Mercury SSm A', 'Mercury SSm B', Georgia, serif;color:rgb(41,41,41);font-size:16px;font-style:italic;">I remember hearing Mike Boulware and Greg Jones, it was their room, and Darnell and some other guys were hanging out. Long story short, Darnell was making fun of Greg Jones, we were just freshmen, and Darnell was a year older than us. He said something that rubbed Greg Jones the wrong way -- I don't know if it was questioning his toughness, they were measuring their biceps, two big dudes. He said something that Greg didn't like. Greg picks up Darnell Dockett -- you know Greg Jones of the Jacksonville Jaguars, clearing the way for MJD for years -- he picks him up WWE-style and slams him through that coffee table that they have inside of your dorm room. Classic story. Let's just say Darnell never said anything that would offend Greg Jones from that day on.

probably becuase of blowing out his knee...twice

nobody on this board is suggesting that he was a great NFL player, but he was showing signs of being a legit NFL RB before he had his 2nd ACL tear

from there he went on to be a very good FB, you don't have to be a game changer to be a fan favorite

One could make the case that letting Greg Jones go hurt MJD.  That being said, we're still talking about a fullback.  He was a good guy and certainly contributed in part to Drew's success over the years, but I cringed any time they tried to use him as a short yardage back.  The guy was a hammer, but he was slow to hit the holes in the line, and in most cases, barely moved the sticks.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I don't know, Greg Jones has blocked for more 1,000 yard rushers than any active fullback in the NFL.

I agree he wasn't a great runner after his injuries but a great fullback for the Jaguars, he surely was.

THERE IS A SKELETON INSIDE OF YOU.

RIGHT NOW. THIS IS NOT A JOKE.

Yawn, you or I could have blocked for the same RB he did and they'd have still got 1000 yards. We're talking Fred Taylor and MoJo in prime here...
