That was a whole lot of text to say you don't like that he wears gloves or his frame (and you sure as heck weren't one of the first to worry about either...I remember you, again, copy/pasting other people's opinions on the gloves compensating for hand size), yet even with both concerns he still showed for 3 years that he was still the most accurate QB in the class and he never missed any time. And then he showed at the combine that his hand size is fine, and his weight is getting back to his pre jaw surgery weight of 222, which is what he played at as a Sophomore and would be perfectly fine playing at in the NFL. In your regurgitating of Cosell's weight revelation (that was completely common knowledge...) you forgot to mention the jaw surgery part. Guess 'struggling to keep on weight' while you are doing spring practices with a wired shut jaw and liquid diet is a negative trait nowadays.

 

Now do you have any real issues with his play, because when you're talking on the field stuff he is head and shoulders ahead of the rest of the class and last I knew that's what mattered in all but extreme cases.

 

You still haven't said anything to explain any real reasons why he should have fallen. 

 

I certainly have.  It's because I've shared my opinion (once again, again) that I don't believe he ever fell in the eyes of the GMs and scouts, that he was never that high to begin with... and the only people hot and heavy on him were amateur draftniks and message board fanatics, and the lazy analysts who didn't do their due diligence but instead regurgitated the same empty lines.

 

Write it down.  Save these responses to your desktop.  Do whatever you need to do to remember this time.  I get tired repeating myself over things you allege I've "never said."  This yet another topic I brought up long ago when it was reported that a scout or exec didn't feel any QBs in this class carried a first round grade.  My personal opinion never went that far, but I did say I didn't believe any was worth a top 10 pick.  So that sentiment really didn't surprise me.

You're right its exactly the same thing except for the lack of pads, helmets, pre-snap reads, 1500lbs of offensive line, pass rush, blitzes, coverages and route adjustments. Its basically identical.

 

If our scouts need an underwear practice to know if a QB has 'professional velocity', especially when they have over 1000 passes in actual games on tape, then we need new scouts.

Why do scouts go to them then?


I've always heard people say they are completely irrelevant.  If so, why watch it?  If you're there to interview the kid then great, but why stick around to watch him throw?


And further why do teams bring in these guys for personal workouts?  Why even work them out at all?
