Pre Draft Speculation-MMQB - Jags really like Garoppolo
|
I hope we get 1 or 2 QBs in this draft. I just don't want one in the first. I want to see the "draft and develop" thing start happening for the Jags. I favor that over the plug and play approach every time. Garrard is the sole draft and develop QB this team has ever had. Maybe Rob Johnson, but he never really played outside of a game here and there.

Hey man, some QBs just got it, some don't

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

Quote:People seem to be under the impression that the QB we draft will start day 1. We are looking for a DEVELOPMENTAL prospect to groom at QB. Whoever we draft will have ample time to iron out any flaws and weaknesses he may have.Chad Henne's play will dictate when the rookie will play. If Henne is crap the first two weeks, you better believe it will be a real possibility that the rookie will be starting week 3.

Quote:Everyone has known this since the senior bowl, no? Yup, which is when I started watching his cut ups/highlights and pretty much saw the same thing as FBT <div> Quote:<div></div> </div> I would also add he probably has the quickest release of the available QBs in this draft.

Quote:I dont think it means anything. The guy flicks the ball out quickly. He has decent touch on the intermediate range passes. We could certainly do worse. I think his issues can all be coached, and coming into a situation where he's not going to be expected to start right away is a good thing. There are a handful of QBs we could go after in the 2nd or 3rd round who look like they could be developed into solid starters, including Garoppolo. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:Chad Henne's play will dictate when the rookie will play. If Henne is crap the first two weeks, you better believe it will be a real possibility that the rookie will be starting week 3.I think the scheme is going to assure that Henne doesn't need to be replaced early in the season. I believe they'll do everything they can to assure the rookie gets adequate time to really come up to speed. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Yup, which is when I started watching his cut ups/highlights and pretty much saw the same thing as FBTYeah, I mentioned that above. His release is almost like a flick, but he gets good velocity on the passes. Given time to develop, I think he's probably a more interesting prospect than McCarron, Mettenberger, or Murray. I've never been overly impressed by Bridgewater. I think Manziel is probably the more appealing option of the two, but not at #3. I think he's got a much higher ceiling, but I also think he's got a strong possibility of being a complete failure in the NFL. I think Bortles is overrated, and if this was a stronger QB class, nobody would be talking about him as a top pick. There's more bang for the buck in the 2nd tier QBs if you can get the one that things click for. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:I think the scheme is going to assure that Henne doesn't need to be replaced early in the season. This is another reason I wouldn't be shocked if we went OT at #3, esp if Clowney and Watkins are already gone. Just like last year, I think our first 2 picks will be for guys that the team feels can start day 1. So look for OT, WR, CB or FS within the first 2 picks. And since there is no FS or CB worth a #3 pick, then I think OT or WR is where we go with that #3 pick (OT is a more glaring need than WR, IMO).... Again this is just IMO, and honestly I don't think we are looking for a QB until the third round assuming we don't pick up an additional 2nd round pick from a trade back.
Quote:I can also assure you that the rookie won't be thrown into the fire before he is ready. The way I think about it is this. If we get a QB at #3(presumably Teddy or Johnny), they'll start first day. the quicker they get acclimated the better. If we get a QB in the second round or later(everybody else), they'll sit for half the season and then come in to 'save the day' after Henne implodes.

Quote:If its "complete garbage" then the Houston Texans should have no problem selecting Derek Carr, right?..... Hey FBT....whats the matter? I answered your quote to me with this......then for some reason, <crickets> ...... I wonder why.... :whistling:
Quote:This is another reason I wouldn't be shocked if we went OT at #3, esp if Clowney and Watkins are already gone. I think we shop the pick like crazy if Sammy and Clowney are gone, then take the QB if that fails. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:I think we shop the pick like crazy if Sammy and Clowney are gone, then take the QB if that fails. Well we will know for sure in about 4 1/2 weeks.
Quote:Hey FBT....whats the matter? I answered your quote to me with this......then for some reason, <crickets> ...... Honestly, TMD, that's one of the stupidest arguments you've ever made, which is probably why you hear nothing. Why won't Carr be selected #1 overall? Well, because there are probably 25+ players objectively better than him currently, not to mention team needs not accomodating a QB selection. He's the 4th best QB in this draft, IMO. But that doesn't mean he stays there over his career. His genetics have less than nothing to do with it. Quote:Well we will know for sure in about 4 1/2 weeks.Heck, we may even know in 3 1/2 weeks!
