MJD should have been traded before the season... Off field issues, not taking care of his body in the off season, injury prone age.... Seemed like an easy call to me.... Caldwell just allowed MJD's trade value to diminish by allowing him to play when he is trying to get as many draft picks as he possibly can... First mistake of many..

 

Give me a break. MJD had zero trade value this offseason. You managed to list the reason nobody would trade for him in your reasons why he should have been traded. Sort of ironic.

I think a lot of his problems are the O-line. But I do agree, he looks like he's lost a step. But that could be the injury playing it's toll right now. It wouldn't surprise me if they brought him back for a couple more years, if he takes a lower pay with possible incentives. But I think a lot will tell with what happens the rest of the year. If he starts getting his step back, even if the numbers aren't there, they might have more want to bring him back. Maybe hold onto him till Todd Gurley comes to the NFL

I predict that Caldwell offers MJD a 2 year deal with a salary he and his agent find insulting.   MJD then goes on to sign elsewhere for more money and maybe one more year.   (This is all hinging on him finally showing up on the field for a few games and looking like some semblance of his former self. Otherwise he'll be lucky to get vet minimum)

Shefter was asked if the Jags should trade MJD since they are in full rebuilding mode and Shefter says it probably won't happen, due to obvious reasons that we have discussed.  He did go on to say MJD is averaging 2.3 yards per carry this year and hasn't even come close to a 100 yard game, and there wouldn't be any teams knocking the door down.  Then reality hit when he said "He is an older back" 

 

Of course we all know he is older and injured.  Its always tough to let go. 

 

So that leads to my question to all of the die-hards on this board.  I was hoping the die-softs wouldn't chime in with the usual "One-Liners"....but a reason behind your opinion would be appreciated. 

 

With the way this year is going, and with the way that the season is probably going to end up (2-14 or something along those lines).............Is it safe to say this is MJD's last year in Jacksonville?  I'm neutral on this topic as of right now.

If the current trend with the roster is any indication, there's no reason to think MJD will be back next year.


Regardless of what the rumor mill might be spinning, the reality is he's an aging running back who has suffered two significant season ending injuries, he's getting close to 30, and he's got a ton of mileage on those legs.
