The wait for the draft is killing me..

#21

My offseason "clock" is now off-or at least altered.

In my mind, the draft was this time of year, and the Kentucky Derby was the unofficial midway point of the offseason.  Minicamps, etc. were in May, more OTAs/minicamps and preseason mags in June,  end of July, training camps begin.

I am gainfully employed, and I am going nuts waiting for the draft, because I like our chances of getting a game changer or two.  The extra two weeks isn't helping.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

I think the thread title is why Goodell moved the draft to May anyway.

He's the number one pusher in America.

Pretty sure moving the draft back so far directly related to Goodell giving the film editors time to fix the stupid draft movie.

When does the NFL ever put people ahead of profits?

Owners should really think about a new commissioner.

Is anybody outside of New England happy with the guy?

It doesn't have anything to do with the Gator-infested media?

Not unless you are supplanting the fact that Goodell held up the draft for Hollywood flim editors. That's like a effort to cover up the fact that the Gator-infested media loves Hollywood scum-rakers like TMZ because they attack on command.

How's that?

I wondered if they ever considered holding Day 1 early, say March 15 and then holding the rest at it's normal time?

Quote:Wow such hostility over a simple post. What does your schedule have to do with anything? I think anyone who is a true fan of a team is pretty anxious for the draft.

Well, df is european and they typically look down on everyone and badger is well... he's special.

Don't give the NFL any ideas. I'm sure if they could get away with it the NFL would milk the draft for all its worth. Day 1, day 2, and day 3 would be split into 3 separate weeks on May 10th, May 17th, and May 24th all on prime time television. Make it a month long event.

What really kills me about the new draft schedule is that it almost completely kills the chance of a "guy's weekend". Used to be that you could go away for a weekend, watch the draft with your buddies, play a little golf, drink some beer, yada yada yada. But now with the First Round on a weeknight, that's shot all to hell. Even if they just held the First Round on Friday night, you could get away with it but nooooooo. Gotta be all 'I want my tv ratings up!"

Yeah, I honestly enjoyed the old format. It was a day event. Kind of takes away the excitement after you pick and then you have to wait another day.

Quote:I don't like that it was pushed back because now it interferes with the TPC.
I've heard that a lot and i don't really get it.  You could easily go to TPC Thurs and Friday and watch the entire draft cast each night.  Saturday is the only day where there would be 'interference' but day 3 is mostly names nobody knows that much anyway minus a few CFB diehards.

I didn't like them shifting it back a month like everyone else but that's just due to the waiting factor.

Imagine how great it would fit if they did the draft in the same format, just pushed back one day; Friday night - Round 1, Saturday night - Rounds 2 & 3, Sunday day - Everything else.

You could meet up with buddies and catch the First Round Friday night, head out after or just crash after a long workweek.

Saturday, one person gets up early, fires up the smoker, and puts on the Pork Shoulder. Everyone hits the Links/Shooting Range/Courts and then grab a light lunch. By the time the draft is set to start, the shoulder should be ready to go. Break out the sauce and the beer and sit back to a few hours of football.

Sunday morning, everyone heads out for brunch; bloodys and scrambled eggs all around and we get started back to the Draft.

Man, I can't believe they hosed this up.

Agreed. I never understood the Thursday night inclusion. Push everything's back one day and I could live with that.

All these rumors/smoke screens. Our "interest" in Jake Matthews probably stems from the fact that that is who the rams might target, if they trade down. DC is probably trying to scare the rams out of trading down. Can't wait for reality to hit and we see what is true and what isn't. Come on draft day!
