New York Times article on Jameis Winston
|
I didnt see this posted yet, but this article definitely doesn't pain Jameis Winston or Florida Statue University in a good light.
I never knew there was a second "incident." Like the article states, it wasnt illegal, but it threw up some red flags. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/...nston.html We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:In before bigjohn cries This really isnt about FSU/UF or any other school. This could happen on any school campus. The terrible investigation led to these questions.....because of that nobody will ever really know if he's really innocent or guilty. Unfortunately for him, even if he is completely innocent, there is a bad taste left out there for many. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Don't care, won the title. Thats pretty sad. A girl potentially got raped by the biggest reason you won the title....and you don't care. Quote:This really isnt about FSU/UF or any other school. Quote:Thats pretty sad. A girl potentially got raped by the biggest reason you won the title....and you don't care. The article is slanted and poorly written. The article states she had five mixed drinks and was drugged, yet the toxicology report showed nothing in her system at all. The NYT is just doing everything they can to make FSU look bad. They are right about how incompetent the TPD is, however. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
'The woman did not call it rape — she did not say “no.” But the encounter, not previously reported, “was of such a nature that she felt violated or felt that she needed to seek some type of counseling for her emotions about the experience,”'
Weird Quote:The article is slanted and poorly written. The article states she had five mixed drinks and was drugged, yet the toxicology report showed nothing in her system at all. The NYT is just doing everything they can to make FSU look bad. How can you think FSU handled this correctly? They are just as guilty for covering it up. Quote:How can you think FSU handled this correctly? They are just as guilty for covering it up. It happened off campus. Quote:Thats pretty sad. A girl potentially got raped by the biggest reason you won the title....and you don't care. What's sad is people like badger and other Gator fans out there are hoping a girl did get raped so the hammer can come down on FSU. We show less advertisements to registered users. The NYT is just doing everything they can to make FSU look bad. I think the article is slanted because it's pulling out the terrible investigation both the police department and school did. I haven't done a ton of research into it, but it brought a few things to light. I hope it didn't happen because he is a fun player to watch, but I also feel for the women that this stuff happened to.

Is there any reason why the NY Times would dredge this up now?
There's plenty in this story that simply doesn't smell right. It was absolutely botched by police doing the investigation, and again by the state's attorney who was the point person. When did the New York Times become a branch of TMZ? Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:'The woman did not call it rape — she did not say “no.” But the encounter, not previously reported, “was of such a nature that she felt violated or felt that she needed to seek some type of counseling for her emotions about the experience,”' That was a different woman. Not the one who was raped. Hopefully they can take back his Heisman. What a scumbag. “All day every day I am bombarded with messages of hatred for the alleged victim,” the woman wrote. “I am sad and ashamed to be part of a student body that is quick to support a man who is accused of sexual assault, simply because he is a good football player, and even quicker to condemn the alleged victim of the crime as a liar.” So true! ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Jameis was never charged with anything, but hey, I guess you were there right?
the original incident was as well covered up and as dirty as it comes. there is maybe 1% doubt in my mind that jameis raped that girl. and it looks like he is a repeat offender, based on new things coming to light. that kind of thing ruins lives. and he may have got away with it because he is a big time college player. but it will catch up with him eventually.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
