Bears release P Adam Podlesh

Just to re-hash some draft history. Pittsburgh drafted Septulvida*(sp) the pick after Podlesh. Not sure if he was there the whole time, but it's quite possible that Podlesh is succeeding his successor. Now, there's some irony.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

Podlesh went for the Money and disregarded where he'd be performing... Very Few kickers prevail in those type of elements...

This.  Podlesh had a good thing going here in Jacksonville.  His numbers were good, his pay was good, and he had good chemistry with Scobee.  If I remember correctly, Chicago matched what we offered so he hit the door for punter's hell.  I realize things were rough with the team then, but had he rode it out he would be rewarded now with a rising team and a foot that didn't hurt at the end of a winter game.

Shack drafted Podlesh in the 4th, right?  So Shack wasted a 4th on a punter, and then Gene, not to be outdone, used a 3rd.  Caldwell needs to use our 2nd on a punter this year to one up the other guys.

Yes, the early 4th.  To be fair though, another punter was selected shortly after by the Steelers.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

But the biggest coup of all would have been ours if we'd just kept Weatherford over Podlesh.

Only for Dave to be booted and replaced by a guy who drafts a punter in the first round?  No way!  With the 3rd overall pick in the 2014 we should only have TWO options, punter or long snapper.
