Quote:If EJ Manuel 's MRI results come back with bad news, I think (and hope) the Bills might make a play for Josh Freeman. They are only 1 game below .500 and might see themselves as still in playoff contention.
I could actually see this happening, if only because their sole backup at QB is an undrafted rookie.

Quote:My money is still on Browns. Rumor is Hoyer could be out for season. And if Wheedon falters, Freeman is a nice insurance policy if he doesn't win the job outright.
Pretty sure I read that the Browns have already said they're not interested in Freeman.

Freeman's release helps him out somewhat, but it also puts him in a tough spot. He's not a franchise QB, period, I don't care what you say, and he probably doesn't have enough of a feel for anyone's playbook to walk right in and help out, maybe not even to immediately leapfrog anyone as a number two.

The only scenario he'd make sense in, if I were a GM, is where someone gets hurt and you need experience on your depth chart. Buffalo fits that bill (no pun intended). Cleveland, not so much. They've already got Brandon Weeden to start and Jason Campbell, who is a very similar type of QB to Freeman, as his backup. It also seems like they've landed a decent "QB competition" guy for next year in Brian Hoyer, pending his recovery.

Campbell turns 32 this season and has 14,688 yards and 76 TDs in his 9th season. His biggest year is 2009 when in his 5th season, he had 3618 yards 20 TDs 15 INTs. Freeman is 25 and has 13,534 and 80 TDs in his 6th season. His biggest year was last year when he had 4065 27 TDs and 17 INTs. I wouldn't call that very similar.
