Would Khalil Mack in the top 5 feel like a "Gene Smith type of pick"?

Quote:Yeah puff piece.

Banks mocked Mack to the Jags and he talks him up to back up the selection.

Doesn't speak of the potential negatives of the player, thats for sure.

Be careful what you wish for....you just might get it.   Wink

Quote:Where's the barstool diva mock draft? I think the world needs a negative, gloomy, heavy mock draft.
TMD, if you want to start a thread with your mock, I would be very interested in reading it.

I know reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, but seriously. You're ridiculous.

Precisely.

The board has been waiting for the great "rec"ing ball to hit.

Let's see it.

Another puff piece that doesn't focus on the negatives.

Look at this Will Brinson puff piece

Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo: He's got power and speed as a pass rusher and will produce the sort of impact out of the box that will allow Jaguars fans to forget the team didn't draft a quarterback here during 2014.

Quote:A LB is not a premium position in the NFL. Now some may argue that a RT is not either (as a OLT is) , but I can also counter argue that with the NFL becoming more pass happy with all the new rules favoring passing, that even RT's are becoming more valuable than before.

I mean, honestly...it's hard to write about negatives when there aren't any. His physical traits, fundamentals, leadership, work ethic, etc are all top notch. His level of competition and lack of counter moves would be all you can knock. and in an honest evaluation those are both stretches at that.

It's getting so fluffy around here, TMD might be getting a little giddy. Be careful.

It's not his fault college coaches didn't recruit him correctly out of high school.

And if they were any fluffier than that, Ron Jeremy would be calling.

It better be a 7 round mock covering the positives, and more importantly, ALL of the negatives for each selection.

A Gene Smith pick would be drafting Dee Ford at 3. Fringe first round pick, Good not great player, fits a need but overvalued with expectations that won't be met

Mack considering he stepped his game up with tougher opponents seams worth number 3.

Not really. I like a few players better than Mack; like Bridgwater, Clowney, Sammy, and Manziel. But I wouldn't at all be upset about Mack, because he has true potential and is a day 1 starter kind of guy.

Only knock I can think of is that he wouldn't bring that immediate fan excitement other players would, but that all goes away once they see him making plays.

And I feel some are making to big a deal out of his stats and school. If we only look at statistics we'll never understand what goes on on the playing field. It's about the overall unit, and a player (Mack) that has strong leadership and work ethic makes me think he's ideal guy to have running the Defense. Anyone who's played football and some point in their life should know this..

I would be OK with:

Clowney,

Mack

Watkins

Bridgewater

Manziel

Barr in the first round.  Barr in a trade-down, all others IMO could be worth the #3 pick overall

My question is this. What do we do to counter the Titans and Colts if they don't draft pass rushers? They have 1st round picks as well. What if one drafts Ebron? Would Mack be considered a good counter or do we only need to counter the worst team in the league?
