AWESOME!!!! SIGN HIM UP - PLEASE!!!!!  I'm going to be so disappointed if we have the opportunity to get him but don't pull the trigger.

If JFF was 6'4 or taller, and weighed about 230lbs or so, he would be the 1st pick in the draft.

Count me as one who is still skeptical on whether JFF's talents can tranform to the NFL.

There is no way he will be able to run in the NFL like he did in college, but for whatever team drafts him, he will generate some real excitement for them all the way through training camp and into the preseason and regular season, that's for sure.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

You could say that about other qbs too.

Solid analysis by mayock moving him to number 1 after a pro day.... I honestly don't know what to think about manziel. He makes an amazing play and then follows it up with a what the heck play. I'm glad I don't have to make the decision on him.

His dropbacks at his Pro Day looked surprisingly good considering the offense he played in at TAMU

I've definitely warmed up to the idea.

I also have really warmed up to him. Maybe it is just my complete lack of respect for Henne, but I really want someone electrifying out there. I think it would be a little bit of a stretch as far as BAP. However, when grades are almost identical ya gotta go with the driver of the offense.

That's pretty much my line of thinking. No matter which guy they pick, the team will be better.

Of the names most often bandied about, Manziel would probably be the most entertaining. One thing is for sure. The team would get plenty of attention.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

hellava thread FLgators, hellava thread. I'll try to add a few more that I've found. Great thread tho.

I do think its especially interesting to see pro-athletes(even from other sports) speak so highly of Manziel. Athletes who reached the very heights of success in their respective sports. They know better than anyone about potential, heart, competitiveness, etc.

Here's another:

[Image: basketball-player-kevin-durant.jpg]

Quote:Kevin Durant:

“I would take him in the top five, if I was a GM,” Durant said. “He might not be the tallest or the strongest, but he’s gonna go out there to play to win and give his all on every play.”

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">Former Texas A&M defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter, current head coach at Fresno State.

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">

Quote:<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">Manziel was harder to tackle on scout team than Baylor’s RGIII

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">Former Texas A&M defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter was a member of the recruiting staff that found Johnny Manziel in high school.

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">DeRuyter, now the head coach at Fresno State, worked with Manziel during his redshirt season in 2011 and was recently asked what the Heisman winner was like during his time in Aggieland.

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">“I knew when he was our scout team quarterback he was pretty special as an athlete,” Deruyter told FootballScoop.com.

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">DeRuyter said that while Ryan Tannehill was the starting quarterback, Jameill Showers had the better arm. Behind those two were Matt Joeckel and Manziel.

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">While Manziel was a longshot at being A&M’s quarterback any time soon, DeRuyter thought he could use him at safety.

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">“I was kind of in the back of my mind thinking if he’s not going to be in the mix at quarterback I want him as a safety because he’s an athlete, as you can tell,” he said. “He’s a competitive winner, which I loved.”

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">DeRuyter appreciated Manziel’s skill and impressive speed while preparing for Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III.

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">Manziel was the scout team quarterback for A&M preparing for RGIII.

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">“I remember getting frustrated at our defense because we couldn’t tackle him (Manziel),” Deruyter said. “Yelling at our guys saying, ‘If you can’t tackle this little freshman, how in the world are we going to tackle RGIII?’

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">“After the game our guys are like, ‘Coach, I’m telling you, that guy was harder to tackle during our week of practice than RGIII was.’ I think RGIII had about 50 yards against us running the football [he had 12 rushes for 15 yards]. Manziel probably had 600 during the week.”

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">

<p style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color:rgb(55,55,55);font-size:13px;">With the success Griffin has seen in the NFL the news of Manziel’s success against A&M’s defense before he was truly developed is scary.

I'd like it for the sake of getting this town excited once again.  personally, i really don't care who we select because, unlike the former regime, i do believe these guys are smarter then me.

i do know the Johnny jerseys would ignite our younger fan base once again and a heightened jags spirit would be back in the schools.

Don't love him, don't hate him, but I do deny him.  I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him in the second, but there are just too many question marks to justify anything close to the 3rd overall.    It's Tebow-like media hype all over again.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Manziel would be a blessing for Jacksonville.. The kid is a proven winner who would show the leadership this offense has been lacking for years now. The kid's electric.. Great arm, accuracy and mobile.. God I hope they take him.. But teach him how to slide please..

I hope we take him at #3. if we can trade back and still get him, that would be even better. I just think with what we're doing, the pieces in place, and the patient path we are taking, he's a great fit. I wasn't even looking at Manziel before the end of the college season (Bridgewater was the man). However, I saw a lot of very positive and strong traits from him; and his arm strength and accuracy was never as issue (not sure what the heck the analysts and scouts were talking about..). He does need to work on his pocket patience and reads, but that can be taught. He has all the intangibles that can't be taught and I think he has the biggest upside of all the QBs. I don't know if he is really on Gus and Dave's radar at #3, but we have so many choices. I couldn't hate on them whichever way they go (unless it's another Tackle lol).
