I would not mind if he was the pick. I'd also be ok with Watkins, Mack or Clowney. But some of these fanboys are bringing back memories of 2010.

  It's Tebow-like media hype all over again.  

Tebow was hyped more for his off the field antics(his christianity, his extremely likable personality, the fact that he was the hometown kid). Take all that away, say he was some drinking, pot-smoking quarterback from Missouri, and even Tim's biggest fans in Jax would likely admit that he's an average QB at best. It was his amazing off the field achievements and Jacksonvilel connections though that equaled out any limitations he had on the field.

 

To the contrary, the only 'hype' Manziel has and is getting is strictly for his on the field play.

Listen Sneaker, I'm one of the kid's biggest supporters, but I'll be the first to tell you, Manziel's not a good role model for kids, he has and likely will get in trouble off the field again, has a horrible taste in music(see pro-day for evidence), I'll be locking away my daughters if he comes to town, he's rather arrogant and very into himself, and if he wasn't good at football, there'd probably not be a lot to like about him, unless you're for some strange reason a fan of college fratboys.

 

IMO, Manziel is the most anti-Tebow prospect I've ever seen. He has so few redeeming qualities 'off the field', that you know he must be one hell of a player on the field, for people in Jacksonville and around the nation to want him so bad on their team.

I agree with you a bit, but I still think it's a little unfair to compare the two, or so easily toss out excitement for Manziel as 'just another Tebow craze'.

 

The Tebow fanboys were created by Tim being from Jacksonville. Even if they knew that he'd win us only 5 games per season, they'd likely still want him here. You can't argue with those kind of people.

Tebow was wanted by Jacksonville more than he was wanted by any other city or team around the nation. To the contrary, Manziel is wanted just as much, and judging by some on these boards, even more so by Cleveland fans, houston fans, oakland fans, minnesota fans, etc.

I saw one of these signs driving through Houston on my way to Lake Charles. I saw it and immediately felt like Houston would pass on him because there have been other popular players that they had no problem passing over.

The 4 guys you named have achieved more success in their genres, professional sports, and careers than pretty much every member of these boards combined. Especially Durant and Lebron, these guys are a the top of their games, and know more about playing and succeeding in professional sports than you or I will ever understand. If you don't think that, you're fooling yourself.

I completely agree that #3 is too high. But that applies to all of these QBs. The problem is that he won't be there when we pick next because someone is going to take a chance on him at a lower pick. I would rather trade back, get another 2nd rd, 4th rd, and possibly another pick, and still get him. I think and have a strong feeling he is going to be a great NFL QB. Not right away, because he has some learning to do still (as all of these QBs do). But I think with us, he could turn out to be great! So, I don't want to pass over him just because of the height of our pick. It's a tough choice because we have some great options at #3. But to me, QB is the highest priority and I see the huge potential in this guy (nothing like Tebow also. Talent actually exists with Manziel). But I trust Dave and Gus, so whichever way they decide to go, I'm down!

Okay, bud, if you think that those four individuals have ANY idea what it takes to succeed in the NFL, at least any more than we do, I have no idea what to tell you. Normally you have more to contribute to a discussion than this.

JFF will probably be drafted high because he's a QB who won the Heisman and had a really good couple of years in the SEC, which most football people believe is either the best or close to the best football conference.

 

Like any other QB drafted high, only time will tell if it was the right decision or not. It could also come down to where he is drafted. Does he get thrown into the mix right away or does he get to sit and learn before he has to play?

 

Odds are he will get drafted too high and by a team with question marks at QB so he will really have a chance to be a starting QB, so we should have a better idea of how he might turn out sooner then later.

 

At this time JFF is the great unknown. Most people have an opinion on him, but the truth is none of us really know, including JFF himself.

 

It is fun to discuss JFF though.

 

The only thing we know for sure is that he WILL be drafted by some team and that many of us football fans will follow him to see how it all turns out.
