Breaking Down The Monroe Trade
|
Quote:Especially considering the fact that when we get our qb next year, it'll be beneficial to his development to have 2 good tackles protecting him, especially with the questionable state of the rest of the line. Now we have a single good player on the line and the rest is garbage, and something tells me that 4th and 5th round pick isn't going to help too much in that aspect. I know, I wish we had 10 picks and a lot of money to sign free agents... Guess we will just have to roll the same team out next year. We show less advertisements to registered users. Because all of those picks are going to come in and produce. Quote:Just to be different, Bortles. Quote:I know, I wish we had 10 picks and a lot of money to sign free agents... And all those 3rd day picks are gonna come in an have impacts similar to Denard Robinson? Can't wait... Quote:Lot of money but we couldn't lock up one of our best players? We are not going to pay a RT LT money that other teams will offer. They got what they could, it was smart. They view Joeckel as a better talent. Give them the offseason coming up, i guarantee we'll look a whole lot better. And as far as 3rd day picks, i see quite a bit of promise for the future.
I hope so. I will say, IF they knew that Monroe wouldnt resign, then it was a smart move. I'm just gonna have to view it in that light moving forward.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
Quote:http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:9863080 He said that they were failed #1 picks and cited Monroe's abysmal play in Jax this season as the evidence.....weak/ lazy eval by Polian, when you consider that part of the factor to Monroe's playing bad in Jax this year is adjusting or non-so to the new zone blocking system. Any way you slice it, it was mis-management by Caldwell. It just shows that Monroe should have been dealt last offseason probably on draft weekend to get absolute max value as that was when his rep was at its highest.
Doesn't sound like Monroe was coming back next year based on this quote from Khan:
*Khan endorsed the trade last month of left tackle Eugene Monroe to Baltimore for fourth- and fifth-round picks. “His contract was expiring so what we have to do is maximize whatever assets we have,” he said. http://members.jacksonville.com/opinion/...-direction

Quote:Doesn't sound like Monroe was coming back next year based on this quote from Khan: I would hope that Khan endorsed it because the GM he hired to do these things wanted to do it. The only thing Khan has done that I really disliked the whole time he was here was pushing for a Tebow trade, if he wants to be GM and owner, fine, but dont hire a guy and then do that. Interior OL is the biggest problem with this team's pass blocking anyways. The 2nd worst OG in the game at LG, a fossil at C and a mediocre pass blocking RG who's strength is run blocking.

Pass blocking is actually Nwaneri's strength although he'll hold his own in the run game. As for Rackley, he's by no means the 2nd worst LG in the game. I'm not saying he's all world, but come on now. Certainly the OL can use some work, but don't sell them short.

Quote:In April, many of us were excited when we took Luke Joeckel at #2. Weren't you mad that they picked Joeckel over L. Johnson? Quote:If it makes you feel uncomfortable of course you don't - We are here for you Oh good. For a minute there I thought I was all alone.

Monroe played well against the Steelers. I'm thinking his sluggish lazy ways were get a part of the losing culture he's been subject to in Jacksonville. Sometimes it takes going to an intense environment where losing isn't an option to get the blood flowing once again. No team in the Northeast Corridor (Washington, Philly, NYG, NYJ, New England, Pittsburgh) is content with a good effort if it doesn't come with a W.
