Aaron Murray is the guy

Quote:I disagree with this part. I believe that distinction belongs to Carr.Carr is good but Gruden agrees, I know he always talks good about players but he says different things about each one. Quote:You are serious? Posting a highlight video... and it doesn't even highlight arm strength? Its not abut how far he can throw it. I dont even know if he can throw it that far but he can throw it down the field with enough zip on it to get it there and fit in tight windows when needed.
we can split hairs about every qb. the only thing that is going to make or break murray, is if he has the arm to make all the NFL throws. if he does, even at 6 feet tall. there would be no reason why he shouldnt be given a shot. i love bridgewater, i love manziel, i really like tom savage. i like murray a lot too. the thing is, not all of these guys are going to make it.
obviously you look at someone with prototypical size and a cannon and you get a little more confident in knowing they have that and you look at murray and see that he has physical limitations and maybe you shy away. but there have been plenty of prototypical guys with rocket arms that never did anything, and there are plenty of guys that everyone doubted who were studs. only time will tell.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Murray's ball dont sail in the air when throwing down field like some of the others in this draft, not gonna say any names
Quote:Carr is good but Gruden agrees, I know he always talks good about players but he says different things about each one.I still don't agree. His deep ball is unrivaled. He has a cannon for an arm and his deep ball touch and accuracy is the best in this class. The 1:00 mark says it all.

Quote:You are serious? Posting a highlight video... Never understood this type of response....as if the highlight video is showing Asian Oregami or something.... Since when is actual footage of said player in game action to be dismissed, and yet we hype up how they do in stupid combines and pro days. I swear people are ridiculous.
Quote:Its not abut how far he can throw it. I dont even know if he can throw it that far but he can throw it down the field with enough zip on it to get it there and fit in tight windows when needed. The video you posted showed almost exclusively deep throws. I saw nothing where he drove on a ball. I'm not arguing he doesnt have great touch on deep balls, but his arm isn't better than Bridgewater, Bortles, Carr, Mettenberger, Garoppolo, Savage or even Manziel's. And none of those guys have elite arms. The only ones who even have good arms are Savage, Carr, and Mettenberger. If you think Murray's arm is anywhere remotely close to those 3, then I give up.
Quote:Never understood this type of response....as if the highlight video is showing Japanese parliament or something.... Because highlight videos don't show the prospect falling on his face. I can make a Tim Tebow highlight video that makes him look like Peyton Manning. Do you think in that highlight video they're gonna include plays where he threw wobbly ducks?
Quote:The video you posted showed almost exclusively deep throws. I saw nothing where he drove on a ball. I'm not arguing he doesnt have great touch on deep balls, Oh,...so great touch on deep throws = badz... Guys like Gabbert that have the supposed arm strength to supposedly do well in deep throws, yet suck at it due to horrible touch and poor accuracy are the ones you want to draft based off of [BLEEP] that don't matter and never actually translates.....smh.... Quote:You are serious? Posting a highlight video... and it doesn't even highlight arm strength? On the Tebow topic, Tebow did have a storng arm and was one of the better deep ball throwers. Just anything under 20 he wasnt accurate.
Quote:Oh,...so great touch on deep throws = badz... Read much? I was praising him for his deep touch and you think I'm saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying he doesn't have a strong arm. There are tons of strong armed quarterbacks who can't throw a deep ball and vice versa. If you want to pretend Aaron Murray has good arm strength because he can complete deep balls 45 yards downfield, then be my guest. There's no educating that.

Oh, ok.... label it whatever the hell you wish.... Murray doesn't have good arm strength.... I don't really give a damn. Fact is, he completes a helluva lot of intermediate to deeper throws. I'll take that over Kyle Boller anyday. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:On the Tebow topic, Tebow did have a storng arm and was one of the better deep ball throwers. Just anything under 20 he wasnt accurate. I sort of agree with you. We just must have different definitions of arm strength. Tebow had an average NFL arm. A strong arm would be players like Carr, Savage, Luck, Roethlisberger, Kaepernick, etc. An elite arm would be Flacco, Cutler, Stafford, and Freeman. Average arms would be someone like Schaub, Henne, Romo, Ponder, etc.
Murray's arm strength is fine. It's on par with Teddy's, Bortles', and Manziel's. All of those are the same grade. It's not even close to Carr's, Mett's, or Savage's though.
Also, arm strength =/= deep ball. It's velocity primarily in the intermediate seam and out routes. Fales and Garoppolo are the two revelent QB prospects that I worry the most about on those throws, and Manziel's when he is throwing off base but not normally.
Quote:Oh, ok.... label it whatever the hell you wish.... Murray doesn't have good arm strength.... It's not just the arm strength that worries me about Murray. It's that he doesn't have an elite facet to his game. He's a career backup.

When Tebow had to fit threw tight windows he could sling it just most of the time it was off the target lol We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Fales is a player who has a very similar arm to Murray's. However, I like Fales a lot more because he actually has good size, slightly better accuracy in the intermediate routes, and most importantly he doesn't choke in big games.

I think the choking in big games the 1st 3 yrs. of his career actually helped him. He knows how it feels now, been there done that and I think he is over it as his played showed his senior year with mostly 2nd and 3rd stringers on offense. I also think Fales has room to improve velocity too though, because he doesn't use his legs or hips in his throws enough. If he can tweak his mechanics a little to get his bottom half more involved Fales could have good arm strength but it's not there yet. |
