Would Khalil Mack in the top 5 feel like a "Gene Smith type of pick"?

Quote:Racking up on the clown responses, I see. so what if the texans trade down or take a qb? the jaguars should have spent the whole time leading up to the draft planning what ifs for 1 team in the NFL? to me it would make more sense to be prepared to have the overall best team for playing anyone. because guess what? if the jaguars go to a superbowl, they arent going to be playing against the texans.

Quote:LOL, I see you snipped the other part of the post (233) where I talked about that.... haha, what a crock. To be completely honest with you, I didn't even read your entire paragraph. The Cowboys is actually one of the teams I always use as an example to NOT draft a lineman very high.

Quote:The vast majority of the people aren't even posting any love about Mack really. There's just an implied annoyance with you. i think most people here just understand that mack is a very good player. most of the posters arguing with TMD here, myself included, wanted someone else at 3.

Quote:No, they were using Clowney in that scenario. I brought up Mack as a possibility in same trade parameters if Jags brass is as high on Mack as some of you seem to be. The implied Mack love in this thread is strong. Deny it all you wish. You are just inventing arguments.

Um the Jags draft plan should have many variables....not just be so rigid as to include only ONE plan. My vision of selecting Matthews at 3 is contingent if the Texans take Clowney. If that doesn't happen, then the variables change and the Jags options also change. If the Jags go to a SB they will have to beat out the Texans interdivisionally eventually (and 2013 was a fluke so don't even go there, everyone knows they'll most likely be back to 2011-2012 prior form as quickly as this year) , just like the Cowboys had to with the Eagles. Same thing. To think you don't draft based upon your direct divisional opponents strengths is faulty. The Cowboys were just one example. Hell, the Jags themselves were an example of this in the 90's building to beat Pittsburgh and counter Pittsburgh's pass rush. Perhaps you were a little tyke back then and forgot the Jags and Pitt shared a division. Quote:Um the Jags draft plan should have many variables....not just be so rigid as to include only ONE plan. You do realize they've probably thought of more contingencies than you could ever dream up in the kitchen, right? Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

If that doesn't happen, then the variables change and the Jags options also change. playing the texans could theoretically have no bearing on the jaguars making it to a superbowl at all. they could lose both games to the texans and the texans could not match up with them in the playoffs. you draft to have the best team as possible, not the best team against one team. draft all speed defensemen to catch mike vick right or a more modern example is rg3. stupid. also you will probably say prisco is a moron, but hes putting articles out on cbssports.com and youre popping toys in a red and yellow cardboard box. but here is this.... The more I watch Khalil Mack on tape, the more I think he will be a Pro Bowl regular. He plays with a violent style and he's a power player. One team's linebackers coach compared him to former Saints outside linebacker Ricky Jackson. I would agree. That's high praise, considering Jackson is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Mack was a force against Ohio State last season, but he was dominant in a lot of games. He didn't play as well against Baylor, which has some concerned, but that game was out of hand early. What I saw on tape was a player who could get around the corner on the pass rush and was also strong enough to get his body into the midsection of a tackle and knock him back. Yes, he played in the MAC, which doesn't produce a lot of top-tier line talent, but he abused the Ohio State line too. He took both tackles and the left guard (he moved inside some) apart in the game. If Clowney goes first to the Texans, it wouldn't be a shock to see the Jaguars take Mack with the third pick. He's that good.

Quote:Most (non Jags MB people -( who I guess have him at 1 overall)) have him about 6. I have him at 9. I've stated on several occasions that if the Jags trade down add picks and take Mack at 6 I'd not complain with that. Kiper had him at 3.

Checkmate, many pages ago. You to are allowed your incorrect opinion.

When they have no time, they think about it!
When they go down hard, they think about it! Just watch Peyton, Andrew, Caep even Mr. Bundchen. Quote:Checkmate, many pages ago. You to are allowed your incorrect opinion. while i do agree with this, the difference is that TMD was bashing a lot of poster's opinions here, saying all the talking heads on tv are incorrect as well. basically saying he knows the future and that he already knows he is right. i think thats where it went from "everyone is allowed their opinion" to open season on TMD.

Quote:Serviceable player is fine for blocking serviceable pass rushers. If the Texans take Clowney, the Jags would be smart to negate that ASAP. Matthews would provide that. The Jags rebuild/ or build isn't going to end this year, and they already addressed pass rushers in the free agency this year, so they can wait on that one year (at the top of the draft) if they have to. Matthews falling to them after a Clowney pick by Houston would be the right move. The only other selections that would be acceptable at that point would be one of the QB.Well that's adorably rich. Quote:Well that's adorably rich. Lol, in the end the Jaguars will have a horrible draft in TMD's eyes and Caldwell is the same as Gene Smith. It all started with the terrible trade for Monroe....its all downhill from there.

Actually no, they could have easily just said "you are allowed your incorrect opinion" and left it at that. Also for 99.9% of the responses when I bashed - I bashed the post, not the postER. and in 100% of the cases they were responses to insults aimed my way, not me firing the first shot. So...
Now we've come full circle as the victim card has been played.
