I already said that back in post 62 of this thread.

Go and read it, or I can re-quote it for you to help you understand it.

There's nothing to understand. So your point is we all have a right to state our opinion??? Who knew! Thanks for clearing that up for everyone. Insightful stuff.

Quote:This.. IMO What Mark Brunell said was far more trashing to the TEAM and CITY then anything MJD has said.

Yep, I forgot about Brunell.

Even after his halfhearted apology his comments still stung. I could tell firsthand at the halftime ceremony of the Bills game.

Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

Should he have apologized before he said it?

So again your point is......................................................................................................

Maybe you should have read the entire thread before jumping in.

Oh yeah, now I remember because you have told the board this over 100 times. How could I forget?

Let me ask you. Do you often times find yourself laughing at your own jokes?

Quote:Not sure what one has to do with the other. Brunnell received a ton of crticism, so much so he issued an apology (pretty much).

He apologized, and admitted he was blindsided by the question.  You'll never get a mea culpa from MJD.

Did you see the interview?  It was his first day on the air with ESPN.  He was clearly not prepared, but trying to sound like he had a clue.  Damage control or not, he apologized.  He's avoided making similarly boneheaded statements since then.  I don't think it was insincere.

This.

Anybody with any knowledge of how ESPN works knows what if the interview anyone remotely associated with the Jaguars will ask the questions about Khan, and the status of the team moving or will slide it in there with an agenda.

Mark did previous work with ESPN, he knew better and should have been better prepared. His apology was pure damage control.

You could be correct, but lets face it - theres no way he should have been blindsided by it, its probably the most common themed topic about the Jags in recent years. Mark would have to be an airhead to not consider that type of questioning to someone with his background of the Jags in the above scenario.

Brunell said in multiple interviews afterward that he really wasn't expecting a lot of Jaguar specific questions.  That's not what they hired him for.  It's not like he'd been affiliated with the organization in any capacity in what, a decade?

Brunell was hired by ESPN on one day, and the next he was flying to Bristol on the red eye to be on the air first thing that morning.  I doubt he had time to think about anything but what suit to wear.  This is not some deep thinker we're talking about.

Regardless of what was said by MJD, our fanbase can become a little jaded at times, especially after a player is released, traded, or signs elsewhere. This was also the case with Mr. Fred Taylor upon his subsequent release from the Jaguars, a lot of belly aching and whining about frankly nothing. MJD is easily a top five player of all time for this franchise, but with the responses in this thread you wouldn't know that without intimate knowledge of the Jaguars.

Case in point; go read the Russel Allen released thread and then read the real reason Russel Allen was released. Some of you act like witch doctors to say the least

Well, in that first response to me he was stone cold serious, but after you just gave him an "out" here, I'm sure it will be taken.

There are always going to be fans who will go on the attack when players leave.  I think that was muted considerably with Fred Taylor because he never really trashed the team after being released.  He went about the business of landing on his feet to extend his career.  In the end, he avoided burning bridges, and it made it much easier for fans to embrace him when his career was done.

The Russell Allen situation is a funny one because you've got one thread where people are celebrating his release because he was a scrub, then jumping into the other thread talking about what a shame it is he's suffered a stroke.  I guess it depends on the situation, but some of the same folks opining that they wish the team would have signed him to a 1 day contract so he could retire a Jaguar were the same ones celebrating his release.  In the end, he retired.  He only played for one team, so guess what?  He retired a Jaguar.

MJD will always be a guy who was the face of this franchise for several years.  He was the star until he started to decline.  It's unfortunate, but the NFL is indeed a business, and he was worn out as a Jaguar.  What he's saying now about being wronged will irritate fans, and if he keeps doing it, it simply stokes that discontent.  In the end, when his career is over, the overwhelming majority of fans will be talking about whether he deserves to be included in the Pride of the Jaguars.  The larger population won't give a crap what he said after signing with the Raiders.

No it was clear, and you're making it more hilarious. I wasn't helping him, I was helping you.
