Manziel would certainly change the nation's perspective/rhetoric on our schedule/first 4 games

Yeah, I'd only be comfortable with Manziel if Bradley/Caldwell were comfortable.
Owners influencing player personnel to suit their agendas hardly ever go well. But I'm confident Khan would never do that.
Anyone who thinks our first round pick (if we stay put) isn't Watkins Clowney or Mack are just fooling themselves.
Now that doesn't mean we can't trade back or trade back into the first and grab a falling Manziel or Teddy but no way on earth are we taking a QB at #3.
Dear Jerry,
Please trade up to three because you desperately want Manziel. Thanks, Jaguar fans We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:no way on earth are we taking a QB at #3.Is there a way on earth that Texans take a QB at #1? Is there a way on earth Browns take a QB at 4? Raiders at 5? Bucs at 7? Vikes at 8? Not arguing with you Bones, just trying to figure some of you guys out. Why is 3 so much higher than 4 in your minds? Why can Browns take a QB, which most mocks on these boards predict, and that is deemed 'good', but the very same QB at 3 is laughable and deemed 'impossible'. I guess what I'm trying to say is I would understand and perhaps even agree with the "no way QB at 3" crowd more, if they didn't think any QB was going in the top 10 this year. THAT to me would make sense. But I just can't believe there's no way we take a QB at 3, but then the same guys on these boards mock the Browns, Vikings, etc taking the same QB we 'had' to pass over just 3 or 4 spots down. What do you think? Is Manziel worth a 4th but not a 3rd? Is Bridgewater worth a 7th but not a 3rd? In 5 years will we even remember who was picked 3rd and who was picked 4th? I'm honestly trying to understand your point of view.
I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

In the top ten, especially the top five, yes, one pick can be the difference between a reach or a good call. If the Jaguars take Khalil Mack at 3, I'll be happy. If they take Mack at 3 but Clowney's still on the board, I'll be a little disheartened.
For me, it's simply a function of who's on the board. There are, imo, three elite players this year who fit into a position of need for the Jaguars: Clowney, Watkins and Mack. Being that we pick third, at least one of them will be there. So if we were to draft Bortles ahead of Mack at 3, I'd personally consider it to have been a slight reach. If we trade down to four because Cleveland desperately wants Watkins, for example, then I'd be perfectly fine with drafting Bortles. Kind of like your signature says, I would love for us to get one of three players at the third overall pick: Clowney, Mack or Watkins. If we trade down and take the likes of Bortles, Bridgewater, Gilbert or Ebron instead, I'm good with that, but if we stay at three, I would consider any QB to be a reach.

I think you're very right on a number of levels.

Well since the general consensus is Mack at #3; here's to Henne and whomever we hope will be our diamond in the ruff on offense from rounds 2-7. I've heard Defence wins championships so i'll go with the flow of no offense till another top 5 pick comes along.

At the end, of the second trade, we end up with 1 first round pick 3 2nd round picks 3 3rd round picks 3 4th round picks 3 5th round picks 2 6th round picks 1 7th round picks Giving us 16 picks total if my math is right. I could be happy with such a scenario. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

Well, the way I see it, we are talking about a team that has won 11 games total over the past three years. Caldwell has indicated his task is to improve the top 1/3 of the roster. If we wound up with the above allocation of picks, assume generously we hit on half of them. If somehow we came out of this draft with eight new starters (QB, C, RG, WR, DE, LB, FS, RCB) we should be improved. Under the circumstances, I don't think 16 picks would be too much. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:Well, the way I see it, we are talking about a team that has won 11 games total over the past three years. If the team managed to hit on half, and to plug the holes you've listed, it would go down as one of the best drafts in the history of the franchise. This is going to be a telling draft. There's a lot of opportunity here for Caldwell to really prove himself. He could also fall flat on his face. Let's hope not! Never argue with idiots.
