Texans on the clock

#21

Quote:I'd prefer to trade back and acquire extra picks as I don't think any of the top three QB's are #1 worthy. I also am not sold on Clowney with #1 and would fear having to pay both he and JJ Watt in due time. Assuming we could trade back to early/mid 1st, then I would select Anthony Barr.

I still think QB is our most important need and would like to see us pick up either Jimmy Garrapolo in the 2nd, or Logan Thomas in the 3rd.

BUT, to answer your question (Assuming no trade back) I think Bill O'Brians decision will be either.

A ) Blake Bortles

B ) Jadeveon Clowney

I wouldn't worry about paying both Watt and Clowney if they go that route.  Clowney is signing a 4 year contract with a 5th year team option if he's taken as high as expected.  You won't be negotiating with him until 2018.  You never know what happens with Watt in that time span.  I hope you guys take Bortles or Clowney.  Leave Teddy alone.

Yeah. Paying Watt what he is worth when the time comes is what scares me most. Yes, he is worth every dime of anything he gets, but a salary like what he deserves can/could really handicap our cap space.

I like Teddy...alot. I just have an odd suspicion that BB isn't even looking his direction, unless it's all pre-draft smoke and mirrors.

Lets hear it for pre-darft smoke and mirrors.

HeadSlap

When they have no time,  they think about it!

When they go down hard, they think about it!

Just watch Peyton, Andrew, Caep even Mr. Bundchen.

I wouldn't even be surprised if the Texans took Watkins at this point. He's looking like a Julio Jones clone right now.

If Watt can keep it up and not get hurt, I seriously think he wants Mario Williams type money.  Seriously, I know how important a guy like that can be to a defense, but I don't think a single defensive player is worth 20% of your yearly cap space.  A top flight QB, absolutely.  But the proof is there.  Even with Watt playing amazingly, Houston has the 1st pick.

I still kind of think they skip on a QB in the first round, I see them going Clowney or even Mack.

Whatever they do, lets hope it ends up being the wrong decision that puts their franchise into a downward spiral for the next decade.

Even if that happens, at least they will still have the 2nd largest video boards in the NFL.

I don't really care who they take at #1. I just hope no one's dumb enough to trade with them, that'd be pretty bad.

Still have them picking Bortles. I refuse to believe Houston is sold on Clowney until they outright say they are picking him.

Blaine Gabbert 234lbs 6'4 40 yard dash in 4.62 and a higher wonderlic score than Peyton Manning.

Changes the way Jags fans look at physical measurables for the rest of their lives...

I really don't wanna see Watt AND Clowney for the next 5 years. We just got rid of the Freeney/Mathis one-two punch.
Only a chump boos the home team!
