49ers looking to trade into the top 5?

#21

Quote:Let's see...

Pick #3 for:

2014 #30 First Round

2014 #56 Second Round

2014 #61 Second Round

2014 #77 Third Round

2015 First Round Pick

Not sure how even this trade is, but having three second rounders this year would be nice.  Even if it's just so we can move back up to get a high QB.
That's the kind of windfall that can turn a losing team into a winning team very quickly. I make that deal, and run to the podium to announce it.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

To make it a little more do'able for the 49ers...

Jags trade #1-3 to Tampa Bay (taking WR Sammy Watkins), receive picks #1-7, #2-38, and a 2015 2nd round selection.

Jags trade #1-7 to 49ers (taking WR Mike Evans), receive picks #1-30, #2-56, #2-61, and #3-94.

Jags now have:

1-30 (sf)

2-38 (tb)

2-39

2-56 (sf)

2-61 (sf)

3-70

3-94 (sf)

4-105

4-114 (bal)

5-144

5-150 (det)

5-159 (bal)

6-179

6-205 (sf)

7-222

Plus 2015 Rd 2 selection (tb)

....now this would fill some holes quite nicely.

I'd take it, then trade up slightly in the 1st to pass Cleveland and get our QB.

I'd be thrilled, also if Teddy/Johnny fall down in the draft we could leapfrog Cleveland at 26 and grab one of them.

I like that maneuvering so I ran with it...

Here's one scenario:

#30 - Blake Bortles - QB

#37 - Brandin Cooks - WR

#39 - Kyle Van Noy - OLB

#56 - David Yankey - OG

#61 - Austin Seferian-Jenkins - TE

#70 - Weston Richburg - C

#103 - Brett Smith - QB

#105 - Chris Watt - OG

#114 - Jarvis Landry - WR

#144 - Justin Ellis - NT

#150 - Max Bullough - ILB

#159 - Antone Exum - DB

Jeez, I don't think it's possible for 15 draftees to have a legit shot at making the team. Gonna be a lot of wasted picks/players in there.

I also think trading from top 10, even with a trade down first, and going all the way to 30 without getting a 2015 1st would be very unwise.

Nice work, I like it.

Here is another scenario:

Trade #30 (#1), #103 (4th) and #144 (5th) move up to #25 (san diego)

#25 - Teddy Bridgewater

Then the rest of your picks minus Bortles, Smith, Ellis.

I would probably take a FS over Cooks at that spot. Work with our current WR core and add Miles Austin on a one year deal.

If we had that many picks, i'd hope Caldwell would use them as ammo to trade up, and instead of having a ton of picks in the late rounds, acquire 3rd/4th round picks instead.

That's what I'm thinking as well. But, then you'd better hit on the picks.

I have had my eye on SF for a couple of months now. They are to good of a team for these draft picks to make their team. THEY WILL TRADE with someone guaranteed.

Would we trade to get all these draft picks?

What team could use this many draft picks in the NFL? It would change our team if we pick correctly! We could even take more chances.

Well that's why they pay Caldwell the big money!

This is very intriguing. San Fran might have to throw in another 2015 pick, tho.

For this roster its not impossible at all.

Am I the only one that doesn't want 20 rookies on this team?

This wouldn't even be a question or any sort of debate. I would pray they'd take the bait.

I posed the question earlier about how many draft choices is enough?

20 rookies on the roster? I'd say that might be a tad too many.

Most realistic offer would be swap 2014 1sts + 2015 first + 2 2nd round in 2014. Thats just a tiny bit more than the CLE ATL trade.

# 30 - Sua Filo

# 39 - Attaochu/Marcus Smith

# 56 - DeVante Adams

# 61 - Martin/Richburg

tradeup into late 2nd - Fales

That would be awesome but unlikely.

Completely agree.  Some people find it fun to see how many picks you could stockpile, but the reality is you don't want too many rookies on the field at the same time.  History shows they will be exposed.

I like the idea but i also feel a bit scared to trade away more of a sure thing(or what we think one is in the 3 spot) but i also love the idea of trading to the falcons and 9ers like someone else said already. Stock pile as many early round picks as possible. always can try and trade back into the first or second round with that ammo.
