Quote:Did you watch any of his games?  Pro style qb that can make all the throws.  I'm not saying we should take him, but you are talking out of the wrong end.

I remember Gabbert being called a better fit for a pro style offense than the one he was in in Mizzou....at least thats what the excusemakers were saying when Gabbert's Junior season play was brought up as detrimental.

I did see a few of Bortles games last season....not sure what is/ was so impressive. Not sure how it makes me "talking out the wrong end". Gabbert was also supposed to be able to make all the throws...

Gabbert was on the decline on draft day

This is the revisionist history, yes.

He was still seen as a top 10 pick in all mocks up to the draft day itself.

A top 10 pick when he was earlier considered the favorite for the first pick.

Exactly.  The Jags saw an opportunity when he started to fall, and many were happy they jumped to get a QB who was touted as a potential #1.  That didn't work out so well, but at least they gave it a shot.  The gamble didn't pay off in the end unfortunately.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

And you don't see a difference between a guy being called a better fit for a pro style offense... and one who played in a pro style offense?

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

You would think that might be a benefit, but there's a pro football scout in a McDonalds kitchen somewhere in northern New Jersey who disagrees.

Talk about revisionist history...

Gabbert certainly did fall.

And boy, the board exploded because we FINALLY drafted a QB, and one that wasn't expected to still be on the board.

Actually I remember some people pointing out that it was a red flag because QB needy teams like San Fran for example were passing on Gabbert in the top 10...

....and that ain't no revisionist history, neither,

the comparison to Bortles "wowing" the meeting.....i.e. a QB who is good in meetings/ chalkboard but just so-so on the field.

Thats how, chief.

Except he's not so-so on the field. So this shouldn't be about Gabbert, chief.

A poor comparison conceived by a misguided agenda.

Well, thats your opinion, then. I don't see how Bortles on field college play is all that much better than Gabbert's sophomore season.

I do get a kick out of Alfie Crow: Draft Expert.

He tries so hard to be different.

He prefers Anthony Barr to Khalil Mack.

He prefers Mike Evans to Sammy Watkins.

He's such a hipster.
He still wearing those hipster glasses? I haven't read BCC since they changed the logo to a black whale
