Well I wouldn't compare him to Reggie Williams. I just think he is a guy who doesn't necessarily need a lot of separation...just throw it up and he will usually come down with the ball or box his guy out to make the play.

Just to highlight a few examples (and this wasn't even on of his better games)

 

:11 uses body to create separation

 

2:13 uses deceptive speed and route to break away from CB

Evans @ 3 is ridiclous he isnt nearly on Watkins level who isnt on AJ Green's or Megatrons level himself so nope. I understand WRs are all the rage right now but Evans isnt as good as Blackmon when he came out and he was arguably not a top 5 pick worthy WR according to some.

I think Murray could get drafted in the 3rd, but I agree with your assessment of Evans. He drops way too many easy passes to be a top 5 guy. I actually would rather us draft Beckham than Evans.

I never take it the wrong way. Its only my opinion. I would also check out the Auburn game. Like I said he isn't going to be a burner or super quick, but the guy will make game changing plays on a consistent basis. Another ability I love is that he understands where to go when a play breaks down.

Why because its the general opinion that he isn't even better than Watkins? I am just basing it off what I have seen on tape. Though Green was slightly faster and a much better route runner at this point in his career I haven't seen anyone attack Jump balls and 50/50 balls quite like Evans has including Megatron....

 

He is also 1" taller and 20lbs heavier than Green was all while only being about 1/10 of a second slower......Also he only has played 2 college seasons and has much more upside than Green did when he was coming out as a Junior IMO.

 

I am not saying he is Megatron level, but I would put him on the same level of receiver as AJ Green.

Green isnt just "slightly" faster. I dont care about a combine time Green pulled away from defenders in pads consistently and thats not the same for Evans. Also lolz on the jump ball idea as this is arguably Green's greatest attribute. He has made some of the most ridiclous circus catches ever seen in college and the NFL. He has that spooky it doesnt matter the angle or direction he can catch it thing and Evans simply doesnt.  

 

How does he have more "upside" if he wasnt on the same level as a prospect coming out?

 

You are dispresecting Megatron to say that about the 50/50 balls and Fitzgerald as well. Evans jump balls come after 6-7 seconds of play time where he has finally broken free of the DB and Manziel is scrambling making it tougher on the defense. Green and Megatron win 50/50s on designed plays and on post , comeback , slant, and dig routes not just fly routes like Evans. Its not close man.

If you say so, we will just have to agree to disagree. I think sometimes you guys get caught up with what these guys have gone on to do in the NFL and forget what they actually did in college....

 

Green and Megatron were not as good on 50/50 balls and jump balls as Evans was in college. I can show you 2 - 3 plays at least from pretty much each game last year where Evans is catching balls like that. Megatron and Green caught those type of passes on occasion. 

 

And please dont use Manziel as an excuse....I could also be that Johnny missed him on an initial read which forced him to run around for 6-7 seconds.....He is open a lot more than people think. We see what happens when he starts playing on Sunday.

 

Also just to throw it out there, he had 69 receptions and averaged 20 yards a catch.....its not like 1st round receiving talents are doing that every year. (I don't think anyone has done that with at least 60 catches since Roddy White and he played for UAB....)
