Great Grandma Bender, coffin and all, is > Gabbert. At least she doesn't run for her life the second an opposing lineman's jersey is visible.

Mallett's ceiling at this point looks to be career backup. Sure am glad we didn't trade for him.

These statements are contradicting.

The buzz is that he (Bill) wants to get a high draft pick for Ryan Mallett and draft Johnny Football.....

Quote:Thats ridiculous.

Why?  He's never going to play while Brady is there, and he knows it.  If he sits until his rookie contract expires, he'll move on and they'll get nothing.  Each year that passes, they get closer to that.

Except a compensatory draft pick that could be as high as the third round if Mallett sets foot on the field and looks competent.

Still bringing up Kirk Cousins (unabatedly too), huh?

As long as you keep pretending like you are holier than thou when it comes to evaluating trade value, then yes.

Mallet hasn't even shown that he can be a Mike Glennon.

I do find it hilarious how "someone" can endorse trading a third rounder for Mallett yet turn their nose up at the same deal for Mike Glennon.

Mallett must not be worth a damn if NE is so eager to get rid of him.

Or does that logic only apply to Glennon?

Because Tamp Bay and New England have similar track records in evaluating QBs.

Only applies to Glennon, of course. Playing for New England automatically makes you a blue chip prospect everywhere else in the league.  :whistling:

Do you really believe this? Do you know how rare it is to get a 3rd or even 4th? You don't get it by leaving and signing as a backup QB. It's also heavily related to the size of the contract he'd sign, which would not be anything significant.

If Brady goes down for any length of time and Mallett looks competent, some idiot GM is going to give him a huge contract. It's not likely, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if it happened.

The fact that there is never a peep from Mallet or his agent means that the dude is simply glad to be pulling a paycheck anywhere.

I thought the guy might turn into something. I was oh so very wrong.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

and at least you admit that, Dakota. I was wrong about gabbert. I thought last year he would turn everything around. Mallet has done absolutely nothing in this league. Tebow has a more illustrious NFL career. Glennon has proven more in the NFL. The jaguars shouldn't consider trading a 3rd rounder for a clipboard holder. Some people just can't admit that.

I think there were a lot of us who expected Gabbert to start making the turn last year.  It didn't happen, and as soon as that became apparent, at least Gus and Dave had the stones to make the switch, and eventually trade him for whatever they could get.

Mallett has done nothing to warrant trading a high draft pick for his services.  We're better off developing our own QB.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
