I need a good laugh, can you tell me who the 9 will be?

Don't know what the pessimism is all about. The best team on Jacksonville's schedule is Indianapolis or San Diego and they're both pretty beatable.

I'd put Cincy and Philly on that list too particularly with both games being on the road.

How do two teams that made the playoffs last year suddenly become "pretty beatable"?

Playoff teams rise and fall every year. The Colts are a beatable team as is San Diego.

What is your definition of "beatable"?

The Colts were average statistically across the board. They had the 15th ranked offense and 20th ranked defense in the NFL and they certainly haven't made much improvements over the off-season.

Defining beatable? Hard to set a definition, every team is beatable and upsets do happen. That's the nature of the game. I simply don't see anything to be afraid of from the Colts. Andrew Luck is a very good QB, but he hasn't hit that elite range, and their defense isn't anything to write

Please note my prediction was 7-9, however. I do not think Jacksonville is capable of winning the division or making a wild card, but I do think they will be competitive because I feel they are making better strides in improvement than their division rivals are, and I don't see much of a reason to write this team off from pulling an upset or two.

Statistically, there is only one category that matters at the end of the day, wins.  The Colts were 11-5, considerably better than average.

Yes, upsets do happen occasionally.  If you employ that definition, than every team is beatable and the word no longer has any significance.

Andrew Luck is very good.  I wouldn't put him in the elite category at this time, but I doubt he's maxed out his potential quite yet.  He's only going to get better.

Pulling off an upset is great, but to capitalize on it, the team can't give away any easy ones either.

7-9 maybe.  I still think 9-7 is  dreaming.

no 9-7 is very possible. Dreaming is ea sports putting Madden 15 on the Wiiu cause again they left Nintendo out. EA sports doesn't care about all their cusmters not at all.

:verymad: they are a bunch of jerks over at ea sports!!

I said six wins.  You have to remember that our wins last year were mostly close while our losses were mostly blowouts.  The Jaguars going 6-10 this year while being much more competitive in the loses would be significant progress.  If we draft well, avoid injuries, and get some breaks, we could maybe be 7-9 or 8-8.  To predict anything more than that and you are wearing teal colored glasses.  Even with a good draft, there's typically a learning curve for rookies.

Again I ask, where are the extra 5 wins coming from?  Where has the team improved that much?  Who are the 9?

True, they were 11-5. However they played in the NFL's weakest division this past year, and have shown major spurts of inconsistency. The Colts were walloped by 30 against St. Louis. Lost by 29 to Arizona. Yet they play up to their competition and have beaten Seattle, San Francisco, and Denver. I don't see a reason to automatically mark of losses to teams like the Colts, who have been Jekyll and Hyde not only on a weekly basis, but a quarterly basis as well. (See Cincinnati/Kansas City games) They can be beaten.

We agree on Andrew Luck, and I'm sticking to 7-9 as my prediction for now.

If you want an opinion on where the 7 wins come from, then I think it will go something like this:

2-2 vs NFC East

3-3 vs AFC South

1-3 vs AFC North

1-1 vs Miami/San Diego

The Colts have only 5 picks, we have 11.

We also started with a much worse roster than them, and made a lot of good additions to our team this offseason.

If we draft well, we're going to be closing that gap much further with the Colts.

The obvious (and huge) advantage they have is Andrew Luck.

Its not teal colored glasses. The teams defense was fairly good last year just got a little tired. Our defense will be even better, and you all will be surpised by the improvement of our offense.

That's how I feel also. We're definitely gaining on them, I think we outdid them in FA as well in terms of improvements.

I am holding off until after the draft.

It all depends on whos our staring QB and the Wide receiver depth.

We cant succeed when you have short wideouts going against taller DB'S
