Sammy Watkins

Quote:It would be scary deadly with Shorts and Sanders. We need that QB! He's out there somewhere.. We will find you!
I agree although I have a feeling Shorts won't be a jag in the next couple years. Especially if he keeps getting hurt.

True.. Others will come though. And btw please don't answer that other idiot posting right now.. It's also a waste of time.

Have you seen that play against Syracuse where he was running a fly and then turned on an extra gear to get to the ball and take it to the house... Incredible speed.

Quote:Not scary at all. Blackmon is basically finished. The Jaguars don't expect him back. Does Watkins play wide receiver? There are twenty wide receivers in this draft that can do the exact same thing Watkins does and much more. Look beyond the short screen play and there's really nothing else he can do.
dude be beat tons of people deep and constantly plays at a physical level. I don't know what video your watching jungle kitty.

mans a beast. I do wish he'd stay in bounds a little more because he is so physical I don't think he really needs to go outta bounds.

In a way it's smart of him to do. I'm sure if the game was on the line he would be full throttle for more yards.

Just finished watching most of the videos.  Very impressive.

Didn't realize Clemson threw a lot of screen passes.

Didn't think he would be a realistic possibility at 3. But, my mind is changed. He would be a good fit.

This is what I thought as well about a week or two ago. He makes a lot of sense at 3, with 10 more picks to go Smile

TMD:

I agree with you that we shouldn't reach for a WR when this draft might be the deepest WR class ever, but don't let that blind you on Watkins. Watkins is an elite talent. 1,000 yards as a rookie... put it on the board.

Watkins is not a reach. He will be BAP if he is even still there at #3. Fact is.....we will draft 2 WRs this draft. Now that MJD is gone, we have no weapons on offense except Shorts. Think about that for a minute. Shorts is the face of the offense now. He is our "go to guy". On a half decent offense, he'd be the #3....not the #1. This is the WEAKEST offensive unit that has ever been here. Now that we have strengthened our defense in FA, we need to bolster our offense. Put some first downs together instead of 3 and outs. How the hell boring is that? I miss the days of Smith and McCardell. Win or lose, the games were, at least, exciting. Picking Watkins at #3 would be a step toward more exciting games that are fun to watch. Then, get a QB in the 2nd and another WR in the 4th. With some protection and weapons, Henne might just surprise some of you.

I'm not sold on Watkins.

He has shown he can be pretty good at running the ball, but he isn't exceptionally fast or strong relative to NFL players. You also don't see a lot of routes run by him. I realize it may be the scheme he played in but I would need to see a lot more of that before I invest the #3 pick in the guy. I would want to know I have a polished receiver with that high of a pick.

I don't think he is as good a prospect as Blackmon and Blackmon didn't go that high.

Jaguars and first round wide receiver picks don't mix.

Blackmon went 5th and he's actually a better prospect than Blackmon.

A lot of players run faster than a 4.43. He wasn't even the fastest Clemson receiver at the combine.

And this is where you lose credibility. Going to combine stats. LOOK AT THE FILM and then you tell me if he's fast enough.
