Sammy Watkins

Quote:I'll just take this as you've never watched Watkins play and leave it at that.
I've watched him play plenty of times. I just don't get infatuated by one bowl game and think he is the next great thing like the Watkins and Bridgewater leg humpers.

He could be a good receiver, but he is too unproven as far a running routes like the pro game due to the wacky scheme he played in college to take him at #3.

Quote:Comparing stats on the college level is fine as long as you understand that better stats does not equate to someone being a better or worse prospect.

And comparing pro stats to college stats is one of dumbest things I've ever heard of.

Matt Flynn had 480 yards in a pro game....by your logic it means he's better than Bridgewater, Bortles, Manziel...just about every QB in this draft that isn't Derek Carr.
Actually, until one of those guys can prove they can throw for 480 in the NFL, Matt Flynn is the better QB.

Actually the dumbest thing was you trying to compare Watkins college stats to Blackmons.

We have coaches to help him learn new routes.  Does the word potential mean anything to you?

I wasn't joking. Stop. You are embarrasing yourself.

Blackmon had 253 catches for 3564 yards in college.

Watkins had 240 catches for 3391 yards in college.

You really have no idea what you are talking about.

LOL. So going by your logic greater stats automatically equals the better player.

You probably thought Timmy Chang was better than Aaron Rodgers since he threw for 203830483 yards.

Ignorance is bliss

Until any of these guys can throw for 21 yards, Ace Sanders is a better QB than all of them.

FACT

minus legal troubles. I'd still take Blackmon ahead of Watkins. They're both playmakers and different type of WRs but I see Blackmon as more of a guy who can take over a game. Either way Watkins is still easily top 5 worthy.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Would be great to have them both on the field at the same time.

He also had 13 more TDs and only started 2 seasons.

Potential is two four letter words at pick three.

One of the words is bull and the other starts with s and ends with hit.

You can smash 'em together into one word. You can hyphenate 'em. You can leave 'em separated.

Any way you want...it means the same thing.

Did Timmy Chang do anything in the pros?

Blackmon had the third biggest game by a rookie in the history of the NFL.

The ability to put up huge stats in the pros equals better player..

Quote:Blackmon went 5th and he's actually a better prospect than Blackmon.

To some, maybe....I know in watching Blackmon in college I had no doubt his game translated well to the NFL. I knew Blackmon was going to walk right in and produce in the BIG BOY league right off the bat. I don't have that same feeling in watchign Watkins.

Quote:Sorry, not that impressed.

I would consider him if I were picking closer to #10, but not at #3.

Agreed, and only if Evans was already gone at that point.

Quote:No he isn't. Blackmon was a far more dominant player and playmaker whose skill set has already transferred seamlessly to the NFL.

He destroyed Watkins in every major college stat except for YPC which they tied.

Blackmon was always considered one of the top players in the draft in a very top heavy draft. Probably would have been right behind RG3 if he didn't have his run in with the law.

Yep.

Quote:And you can tell the ones who can watch and understand the difference between college and pro football.

Watkins averaged 8.48 YAC in his final year.

Blackmon averaged 6.56.
