Sorry, but Elite football speed is what players like Fred Taylor, Steve Smith, Deion Sanders and such, had...their timed speeds were fast enough, but when you saw them play, their football speed seemed to have an extra gear.


Sammy Watkins football speed actually does reflect his 4.43 speed. Thats a tier down from players like the above.

That extra .02 really makes a difference between he and Steve Smith...

None of that is me gushing about physical attributes of LeFevour. Comparing him vs another QB who also had a weak arm is not "gushing" about arm strength. It was an attempt to show that arm strength for a QB was overrated. And it still is, despite LeFeavor not panning out.

Blackmon has some of the best YAC moves and plays that I have ever seen. He just does them after deeper routes which is a big reason why he was a much more proficient scorer than Watkins.

 

Watkins is an excellent YAC guy but he won't be able to do than in the NFL so close to the line of scrimmage.

 

The fact that he didn't run many intermediate routes could just be the scheme or it could be due to the fact that the coaches knew he wasn't that good at those routes. He is a superior athlete.

 

Just give him the ball ASAP and let him make plays on the inferior college players he faces. He won't have that type of advantage at the next level. He may have a hard time adjusting. I just don't see him at #3.

As much as people want to call him out as an underachiever, that guy has a lot of heart. He has talent, work ethic, and heart. Baring injury, he'll be a probowler one day. Maybe only a time or two, but you just can't work at your game like he does and it not pay off for you eventually.
