Sammy Watkins

Quote:Its going to be funny when the Jags DONT draft Watkins, and then the same people that are talking him up will take on the "oh, well he wasn't worth a top 5 pick", take...

Meanwhile, MY take on Watkins will remain consistent, even after we don't select him.

The same people talking him up as in most people doing mock drafts, most talking heads on the networks where you have most of your information spoon fed to you.  Those people?

I'm not sure how it will be funny if the Jags don't draft Watkins.  There are easily half a dozen different scenarios that could play out on draft day.  Watkins is only one of them.  The one that isn't a reality?  Drafting Bridgewater at 3.

Most fans have enough faith in the front office to expect a good pick in the first round.  You're the only one here who thinks you're smarter than the rest.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:You dont find Megatrons every year lol Watkins is and will be very good but he will never be Calvin.

There will be several WR from this draft that produce the sort of numbers that Watkins will or top him.

Taking Watkins at 3 would be [BLEEP].

What's wrong with Watkins' build now?

Quote:What's wrong with Watkins' build now?

Apparently he's too small.  That criteria didn't apply when it was Justin Blackmon being drafted.  TMD liked Blackmon, so almost identical metrics weren't a concern.  He's in love with Bridgewater this year, so any other player not meeting his mythical criteria must be trashed.

Its just average. Its not like the build of WR's that proven out to be stud selections in the top 5: Green/ Megatron/ A Johnson/ Fitz.

Blackmon actually PLAYS like the Megatron's/ Green's/ Fitz/ and A Johnson though. Makes the big plays routinely in the intermediate and deeper routes. Wins the one on one physical battles on jump balls routinely. Then after the catch, has the proven ability to take it to the house.

If we pass on him at 3, he's still going in the top 5.

Blackmons PLAYS from the couch are EPIC!!!

Quote:Blackmons PLAYS from the couch are EPIC!!!

Exactly.  TMD loves the couch version of Megatron.  It's like a big snuggly pillow.  If only Justin would come hang in his mom's basement.  They could giggle about the Teddy Bridgewater FatHead on the ceiling.

He might, another team might be dumb enough.

Let them deal with the disappointing selection.

Shocked you're not a GM of an NFL team....

Ten years ago I was of the same opinion as you, that it was a mistake to draft a WR in the top 10 unless the value was overwhelming because the bust rate was very high for the position. But with the new rules protecting QBs and WRs, it seems that things have changed.

EXACTLY -- The rules have changed.  In fact, TMDs analysis shows the success rate of drafting a WR in the top 5 has greatly improved over the past 30 years.

Here we go again.  Your opinion is your opinion.  It's not fact.

Watkins has proven he can take it to the house after the catch. Make big plays just about any time he touches the ball. Win deep, get jump balls...so again how is his frame a concern?

WRs are luxury picks.

Well, teams have probably tried to call him, but the reception in the kitchen at Mickey D's isn't the greatest.

The WR's that have been successful drafted in the top 5 all are similar builds/ skill sets.
