One list of the top ten WRs in NFL history.

10. James Lofton - 6'3

9. Marvin Harrisson - 6'

8. Steve Largent - 5'11

7. Terrell Owens - 6'3

6. Lynn Swann - 6'

5. Michael Irvin - 6'2

4. Tim Brown - 6'

3. Randy Moss - 6'4

2. Don Hutson - 6'1

1. Jerry Rice - 6'2

Average of their heights: 6'1

Why would you want a receiver at or over the average height of the 10 best to ever play the game?

I think all of us know football well enough that maybe only 4 of those guys would have been faster than Sammy.

Sometimes it isn't all about "frames" which is the new cool thing to bash a player about. Sometimes it isn't all about speed. Talent is a transcendent and intangible quality. There is no measuring stick for it but you can watch Sammy and tell that he is going to be a stud. I'm not saying he is going to be one of the best in history, I am just using that to prove the point that there is no reason he can't be.

Also I am still waiting for an example of a QB that didn't make it in the NFL because people said his frame was too small? I am certainly pro Teddy and think the jags might have a shot at trading down now and getting him around 12. But doesn't excuse the fact that Sammy is clearly going to be a playmaker in the NFL and TMD is too agenda set to admit he backed himself into a corner.

Maybe qbs wouldn't under throw Sammy and make him slow down when he has already gotten behind the entire defense if we traded our the rest of our draft for Mallett? Right TMD? Him and Mett look more and more like clones now after that failed drug test. haha

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

The response you should expect here is "Well, how many of those were taken top 3 in the draft?"

Wait for it.

The metrics will be irrelevant because he'll make the pivot away from body type to draft position.  He's a crafty tiny dancer like that.

Quote:Or prove that Lageman said that

I can't prove he said it, but I remember him saying in during Ayodele's rookie year, IIRC.

Might have been during pre-season or early on in the season, when Ayodele was very impressive.

I remember him saying it and thinking "did he just say what I think he said?"

Quote:Someone allegedly local posted Lageman making that quote either today or yesterday on the board in one of the threads.

Lageman usually has good takes, but his opinion on Watkins doesn't really sway mine either way.

Quote:Provide a link.

I'll take Lageman's INFORMED opinion over, well, yours any day of the week.  He doesn't have to set aside his research to make a batch of fries.  He looks at the film for a living.  You simply read mock drafts and draft analysis and somehow think that makes you an expert.

So a faded recollection is the best you can come up with to support this?

Lageman has more football sense in the stuff he flushes daily than you do in your entire body.

The recollection was correct. Don't be bitter that SuperJville backed up what I said.

Lageman usually has good takes, I agree.

SuperJ's recollection is correct because you say so?

He qualified his entire comment with IIRC, so it's possible he remembers incorrectly.  But it suits your agenda, so pounce on it as correct.

You're pathetic.  I'm not bitter that SJ recalls Lageman saying anything.  I'm laughing at just how sad you are.

LOL, well, considering Lageman has a paid gig to give football takes, and I'm merely a fan on a message board, I'd hope his overall opinion would be >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> mine, lol. Thats groundbreaking stuff there, FBT.

Quote:LOL! actually, its 100% truth.

Did this surgery not happen??? Was his jaw not wired shut???
boy you just keep swinging and missing.. Your still missing the point.. He has a small frame.. You can put weight on but it's not gonna make up for a small underlying structure.

Not missing the point at all. His frame was/ is big enough for him to play at 222 lbs as a 20 year old. He'd still have been that weight last year had it not been for the jaw surgery. 6'2", 220 is not small for an NFL QB.

He'll gain the weight back.

I'm not talking about weight.. I'm about structure. They are two very different things. Although I like Manziel I have the same concern for him. They can gain weight but they are still going to have a small structure.

I can't think of many more smaller frame's of QB than Joe Montana.....Jim Kelly wasn't exactly Hercules, either....Phil Simms, another....

What you discuss in your post isn't the argument. The argument is the WR chosen in the top 5.

I love how people constantly move the goalposts.

Kelly always looked pretty solid to me.

Simms might not be a good example as he seemed to miss alot of time with injuries.

Montana makes Bridgewater look like Apollo Creed.

Kelly was 6-3, 217.

Simms was 6-3 216.

Theismann was the small guy to me.

6-0, 192

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Kelly looked smallish to me watching on tv, much like Bridgewater does. But Kelly played at 220.
