God, why did the draft have to move back two weeks.

I'm sure it's certainly possible, but I just don't see it at all.

Word is spreading among the media in Houston?  Well, it's a done deal then.

he's risky but he certainly has upside and potential as well as a lot of excitement to bring. I believe I'm in the minority with liking this pick but it could be worth it if he pans out.

Not saying I think this is true or not.  But does anyone remember the Caldwell quote when he described the type of player he would pick at #3?  It was along the lines of a franchise changing Lebron James game breaking player or something like that.   Whereas last year he described the pick as a 8-10 year starter and selected Joeckel.  Anybody have these quotes?

I don't think thats the case with Shad and the Jaguars though, but I don't think this is all he does either is worry about the Jaguars. I doubt he gets the play by play as the thoughts pop through Caldwell/Gus's minds.

Yeah, I know lol. Just saying, you never know whats true and what isn't. Last year there was plenty of tweets that ended up being spot on from insiders, and there was plenty that were not close (such as Ansah being our pick at #2, although he was higher than Jordan on our board from what i've heard).

Quote:I highly doubt there lying. Khan trusts Dave and Gus to do the job and is probably also super busy. I doubt he is as in the loop as you think he is. He's not micromanaging here.

I don't view Khan as a micromanager, either...

That doesn't mean that I can't see him knowing pretty much throughout this whole process who was #1 on our draft board.

I think this has a decent chance of being true. While most local and national media have backed off the Jaguars picking a quarterback at No. 3 overall, I've never been ready to completely rule it out, especially with where the Jaguars second-round pick falls. If you like a guy, pick him at 3.

<p class="" style="font-family:'Mercury SSm A', 'Mercury SSm B', Georgia, serif;color:rgb(41,41,41);font-size:16px;">Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell also dropped a nugget that he felt Manziel was the most NFL ready quarterback of the flawed bunch and that they would not have to change their offense much for him to fit.

Alfie seems to think this goes down.

Johnny Jaguar's promise may end up being right after all.

If we pick Manziel, I hope we would then pick a WR in the second round, and an offensive lineman in the third round.   I don't want to throw Manziel out there without adequate support.

If we want a difference maker, let's please give him a chance to make a difference.

I hope so. Just give me a qb. I'm fine with any of the top 3.

Agreed for the most part.

The depth of the WR class should enable us to land a solid starter in the second round, and OL in the 3rd at that point should be obvious.

I just hope we don't pick Manziel...and if we do, I hope I'm wrong and that the team gives him as much support as possible.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

If we pick Manziel I'm probably not going to make it into work Friday. The draft party will be rocking!

I think it will be an offensive heavy draft regardless.

Would not be surprised to see them add 2 WR's, at least 2 offensive linemen. Maybe a tight end.

I'm alright with Manziel at 3 if it happens honestly. We are building a solid OL with Joeckel/Beadles/Pasztor as key building blocks moving forward, and we will have 10 other picks to help the protections/weapons on offense. Gerhart will be better than what we had in the running game last year as well. I think he'll do just fine here, and if we do pick him, just gotta trust Dave. He's knows what he's doing.

I'm thinking a smokescreen right now, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happens. If Jay Glazer says something like this I might give it some credibility, but a Texans beat writer? lol. Even some of the other reports look more like speculation and the whole "he'll sell tickets" argument.

Caldwell is expected to speak at 12:30 live on jaguars.com. I'm sure someone in the media will ask him about JFF. It'll be interesting to read his body language.
