Manziel "isn't wild about the idea of landing in Jacksonville" per Don Banks

So its the article bs, true, or damage control?

Quote:Cam Newton once said before he was drafted that he wanted to be an icon...similar to what you described here.

He was met with derision.

Ultimately, he worked hard enough to improve to become one of the better QBs in the league last year.

If Manziel comes here, we can only hope he will match or surpass Newton on the field.

If he buckles down and works to match the hype surrounding him, where he's playing won't matter. Stardom will find him.

It would be nice to see a player with that kind of star power on this roster. But, he has to back the hype up consistently on the field. I'm not convinced he can.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:How can the league sanctioned website allow official articles like that??? I'd be willing to bet Manziel never said anything like that, especially since he's already been quoted as saying if the Texans do not draft him, he'd love to go to Jax and make Houston pay 2x per season.

Btw, the author of the article's last name is "Goodbread"?? lol

The article never indicates he said anything. It's referencing Don Banks SI article.

I'm not sure what the authors name has to do with anything, but Chase is a Jacksonville native, and a quality journalist. I've known his family for years, and know him personally. I went to school with his older brother, a local attorney who was killed in a car accident last year. His mother has been a kindergarten teacher for more than 30 years, and his dad was the managing partner for KPMG here in Jacksonville until he retired recently. They're good folks. So, please, tell me what's funny about their name again?

Banks probably thought he could get in a little dig at Jax and nobody would care.

Good, I don't want him anyways. We better not reach and over draft another avg. qb.

The question is who wrote the front page headline for the story.

lol. Somebody knows he's coming to Jax and doesn't want him to. Nice rumor while it lasted.

I want 3 players. Clowney, Bridgewater, Manziel. Jaguars have the number 3 pick. Just give me one of those 3 at 3, and I'm happy.

Sounds to me like a rumor started by a team hoping the jags pass on Manziel.

Typical pre draft misinformation.

Its just a funny sounding last name....never heard it before.

I didn't mean any real harm there.

Yep, and I don't understand how the NFL continues to enable this sort of disrespect from NFL sanctioned media. Isn't that bad business? Unless... :whistling:

The NFL doesn't own SportsIllustrated -- the publication that published the garbage article.  Not surprised, since it's the quality of stuff they typically post.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:I've always though of Manziel in football terms.  But I just was thinking today how HUGE it would be for the city if he actually did come here.   Could Manziel in Jacksonville completely transform the city?  Or am I exaggerating?
You're way past exaggerating........you're delusional!    :woot:

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Wasn't there also one from NFL,com? Thats the one I am more aiming that commentary at. (the league sanctioned media comment) They had a similar article.

They were just reporting what they heard from Don Banks.  The draft is still 22 hours away.  Any news is news to report.
