I can deal with Bortles. Couldn't deal with Bridge.

You're a Manziel fan who joined the board in December. I'm doubtful you even know who the past Jag GMs are.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I'm solid Bortles will become a franchise QB. Lets just act crazy and call him a HOFer now, but in the long run I see things going well for him. Thank goodness Dave didn't go with Johnny Football.

Quote:Is he a more athletic Matt Ryan? Or just a smaller Big Ben? And how does he not beat out Henne week 1? Henne lost to Gabbert.
Een if he's better than Henne, I keep him on the bench early on.  Do not sacrifice him.

Sacrifice Henne.

He won't let that stand in the way of crying big tears over the Bortles pick.

Gus Bradley said Jaguars would have taken Bortles over Clowney if Clowney had fallen.

No mistake about it, they fell in love with him.

That is stunning. Thinking back on the interviews with Dave, what a poker face.

This pick likely defines Dave Caldwell's legacy with the Jaguars. There is no way he picks Bortles unless he thinks he is the guy to hitch the wagon to.

My old user name was mittromney08.  Since you cant change user names on here and I got sick of political comments I changed it.  Nice try though.  See my post under that username about Alualu over JPP during that draft.  Jags hired another laughing stock gm.

Quote:Maybe.  Either way I am so happy they didn't get fooled by the Manziel hype.  That dude's gonna join Tebow and Gabbert bagging groceries at the Piggly Wiggly in a couple years.
Agreed completely.

Quote:Think about it this way...

Who was the first QB off the board? Newton. The only of the first round QBs to amount to anything.

We got the first QB off the board.
that's a good point.

Idk do you hurt your just selected Qbs confidence by saying, well the guy we wanted wasn't on the board so we had to go with Plan B

I watched that press conference live.  Vito kind of cornered him a bit with that one and it sounded more like positive Gus not undermining his new QBOTF.

I'm not convinced that it's true personally.   I think they had Clowney higher on their board.

I agree. Even if he's better than Henne day 1, the team still isn't good enough to compete quite yet. No point in putting him out there.

However, Bortles may be the kind of guy who does better playing than watching. Everyone's different.

I think Blake has the tools and intangibles to be better than Roethlisberger. Only thing is that Ben has about 20 pounds on Blake. But Blake is more elusive outside the pocket.

Quote:So you're saying you have an issue with us selecting arguably the best QB in the draft when that's one of our positions of need? Well, I guess there's not much more I can say here. Move along.

Sorry to confuse you but I just believe in selecting the best available player. Even more so in the top of the draft. Best QB in what's considered a mediocre class is not really reassuring. It's pretty telling that there hasn't been another one selected thus far. In the end, I'm a Jags fan and I hope this times different. I hope Caldwell out smarted everone.

I agree.  I have to admit as I think about this more, the more it hits me that we just drafted Andrew Luck.  I have no doubt he has that kind of potential (not that Luck has reached his potential yet).  He's got to show he can learn the pro game but he has *all* of the physical tools.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Bigger, smarter Garrard with a better arm. We can win if we build the right team around him.

Especially now that the Texans added Clowney.

Let Henne be the crash test dummy until the retooled line shakes out.
