Bortles is the pick! How you feeling.

It's pretty clear that Cleveland wanted Bortles.  But, they don't have such a great track record drafting QBs, so I'm not sure that's a confirmation.

If bridgewater is there at our second pick its going to be especially embarassing when he ends up better than bortles

A GM's career is usually tied to whichever QB he takes this high.  So Caldwell better be sure about this for his sake.

I'm on record saying I dont love any of these QBs this high.  But that I do think Bortles has the highest upside.  So if you were going to pick one, I dont have a problem with Bortles being the guy.  I do want him to sit and learn though.  I had no problem with us throwing Gabbert into the fire but clearly that was a mistake.  Lets not do it again.

I must admit, I'm shocked with the Bortles pick.  Came out of left field for me because there were really no discussion about him going to the Jags.  I should have known.  In any case I'm ALL IN with this pick.  Go Jags!

Nothing extraordinarily great (outside his size and girlfriend) or bad about him

I'll support it and trust them, but I really would have liked to see a trade down.

I disapprove of this pick for entirely different reasons than the rest of you.  See, Bortles GF has been all over me since I met her at a party a few months ago.  I told her I wasn't interested in a relationship but she insists on staying in touch with me.  Pesters is more like it.  Calls, emails, texts, it goes on and on.  She. Won't. Leave. Me. Alone.  Now that she'll be here in Jacksonville too, I'll have no choice but to go into hiding or risk upsetting our Great White Hope when he learns of his darling's true affections.

I knew my Greek God-like looks would one day hurt other people.  *sigh*

I want to say that we should have taken the Bills trade if it was offered, but I can't help but notice that the Browns, Raiders, Bucs and Vikings are all QB-needy teams, and none of them took a QB after we grabbed Bortles. The Browns passed on Manziel (and everyone else) twice. Makes me believe that we would have lost Bortles if we'd traded back to nine, and if Bradwell were sold on Bortles to the point that they didn't want to lose him, then making that pick is absolutely the right thing to do. We'll have an opportunity to trade back in two if marquee QBs remain on the board there.

Who would want to trade up with us there?  We slide down behind most of those QB needy teams in round two, don't we?

I'm with ya. I especially like how Caldwell did it.. He didn't tell his scouts what he was thinking. He let them come to their own conclusions and they liked Bortles as much as he and Gus did. I'm willing to bet we were not the only team who was high on Bortles. I just don't buy that Cleveland was targeting Gilbert
10 years ago we had Bob Hope, Johnny Cash, and Steve Jobs..... Please don't die, Kevin Bacon.

If they are sold on Bortles that is fine but with the Buffalo trade its basically a top 10 pick next year....Is Bortles better than Mariota//Hundley?

Im fine with the pick but an extra top 10 pick would have been nice next year.

I'm expecting Peyton Manning level career.  Nothing less.  (He does look he got a little Peyton Manning crazy though)

I for one am happy. They got the quarterback, if he can sit and develop this is great. It's not like the Jags are in contention this season. There is a long ways to go and Bortles might just lead the team. This is something to work with.

Do I think he'll be elite? Highly doubt it. Do I think he can be good enough? Yes.
