Blake Bortles

At least his arm can get the ball 20 yards down field. And he's played in a pro offense before. More than I can say about the "upside" of Gabbert... err i Mean Bortles.

lol Bortles played in a pro-style offense.  While Derek Carr ran a spread offense iirc.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Quote:As a side benefit, I wonder if this will help draw in more fans from the Orlando area.

His family?

I don't remember any Gator picks that resulted in a big glut of fans from Gainesville.

They could wind up taking him to start the draft tomorrow. If they did take Carr, and Bridgewater's free fall continues, I'm fairly certain TMD would need to double up on the adult diapers.
Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Everybody is complaining because Bortles wasn't the biggest name on the board. Look at the facts. So far, 2 QBS have come off the board. How many teams need a QB, at least 13. Out of all the teams that desperately need a QB, we were one of few teams that have actually found that quarterback that we liked and then went and got him. Also, taking any sort of analysis into great consideration is just a waste of time. Look at names of the past, some called Aaron Rodgers a bust and now he is one of the best in the NFL. A lot of those same people loved people like Ponder, Gabbert, among other players. Don't trash players until they actually get on the field and prove you right or wrong. Could we have traded down to get Bortles, probably. Were their other high quality players we could have gotten, yes. Look at it this way. We still need a good WR and a good OLB(as far as not taking Watkins or Mack that is.) Still some good players at those spots. WR: Latimer, Ellington, Adams, Lee,Landry and so on. OLB: Attaochu and Van Noy. Still some very talented players at those positions that should be around at pick 39.

Filling those needs would have been easier with Buffalo's 2015 1st.

Boy, you really showed us.

Buttles. Clearly, clever isn't your forte. That would require at least a little intellect.

You're assuming that pick was there for us to take. That's a stretch.

Buffalo wasn't going to trade with us.  They sat and waited to see what we did first -- when they saw we didn't take Watkins... they called up Cleveland.

Tell me what differentiates Bortles from Gabbert? Both are very similar, Bortles has more mobility, yet, both have weak arms. Both are 6' 4". Both QBs we drafted in the top 10... Neither played at a high level in college, Both came out their second solid year. Both were graded as weak arms with good upside. Gabbert was at first the "obvious #1", before Cam took that spot. Bortles comes onto the scene in January as an up and comer, and moves into the top spot (kind of, really depends on what you're reading and who you believe).

I pray to god we got this pick right. But we've NEVER hit on a QB in the first round. And regardless of if Bortles is serviceable or not we did not optimize the value of our #3 pick. I didn't like any of the QBs in this draft, really thought we had a great chance to have a huge draft, find a QB at the end of the 1st and still get a great impact player at 3. And the whole thing blew up with Bortles going 3. Watkins is a sure thing, Bortles isn't. Where we sit as a franchise we can't take chances.

Tape isnt all that impressive. Weird throwing motion. One year of "success," Lots of dumb throws. Could have had him a few picks later.

Hope Im wrong though!

Carr did prior to last year, he excelled in it. Check your records. Fresno changed coaches which changed offense schemes.

Absolutely. If we take Watkins this opens up. We call Buff and say hey - we got your guy. What you think. And then they listen.

Buffalo: Nah, we'll just sit and wait until the next WR in this deep WR draft drops to us.
