For a guy that huffed and puffed about "value" all Spring, TMD is sure a terrible evaluater of players value.

Shan, you are sadly mistaken if you think I was a geno smith fan.
TMD, was I ever on here saying that Manziel and Bridgewater were two of the only three elite talents in the draft? That was you. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
For a guy that preaches value so much, you sure mocked a lottttt of reaches to the Jaguars. Maybe you aren't as good at evaluating value as you think.

Players are reasonably expected to be available at each pick. Good call with the range that Larry Webster ended up in. The Lions drafted Webster with pick # 136, the team's second 4th Round Comp. pick. Webster was the first reported pre-draft visit for the Lions. From that point on, I was hoping the Lions would draft him with one of the two 4th Round comp. picks if DE wasn't addressed earlier in the draft. Webster fits the athletic/ build profile the Lions have been seeking at DE the last couple of years. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Have they said much about Webster? Obviously he was a player I wouldn't have minded us getting, so good luck with him for your team! Quote:Thanks, D6. Hey, have you guys had your mini camps/ rookie camps yet? Have they said much about Webster? Obviously he was a player I wouldn't have minded us getting, so good luck with him for your team! Thanks, TMD. The Lions had the rookie minicamp last weekend, which was a similar time frame to when the Jaguars had their mini camp. The Lions also some OTA's during the middle of this past week. The following article about Larry Webster is well worth reading. It talks about his background and his relationship with his father, who you probably recall watching many years in the NFL. Jim Caldwell mentioned in the article that the Lions Defensive Line Coaches are pleased with Larry Webster's progress. My take is Webster is a project. But with much like DE Devin Taylor, who the Lions drafted with a 4th Round Comp. pick last year, the upside with Webster is high. It probably will take longer for Webster to make an impact than it did with Taylor, being that the latter played with South Carolina on the same D-Line as Jadeveon Clowney. As you know, you can never have enough good DE options in your organization. http://www.freep.com/article/20140518/SP...bloomsburg Quote:Thanks, TMD. IMO, the upside is higher for him as a DE than as some projected at TE.

Quote:IMO, the upside is higher for him as a DE than as some projected at TE. That's my take as well. With the Lions having Eric Ebron, Brandon Pettigrew, Joseph Fauria, and a talented UDRFA TE Jacob Maxell on the roster, I'm not anticipating Larry Webster to see any action at TE anytime soon. On the other hand, DE is a position unit the Lions definitely can use another viable option at. Especially consideriing that Willie Young signed with divisional rival Chicago and both Ziggy Ansah and Jason Jones are coming off surgery. The following is another article about Larry Webster: http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/201...she_1.html A question that comes to mind on this end is if the Jaguars would have drafted Webster or another player with his skill set, which position do you believe would be his primary position based on the roster composition and the mindset of the team brass? On Defense, the only position that I can see a Webster like player as a potential fit in Jax is the LEO position. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:That's my take as well. Completely agree. Plus, with that physical talent... it would make most sense to follow the hierarchy of position importance. 1. QB 2. pass rusher 3. LT etc, etc... TE well on down the list.
