Palmer and Jon Kitna? Kitna and Henne are very similar. Palmer sat the whole first year. I don't think it was about beating Kitna out but more of just letting Palmer learn.

 

Two things, number one, the Bengals actually went 8-8 that season and were 8-6 before losing their last two games.

 

If the Jaguars are actually playing better than .500 football into December then I could understand wanting to keep a steady hand on the rudder.

 

Secondly Kitna played better that season than Henne has ever played in his career.

 

It would take an unlikely performance from Henne and the rest of the team for him to hold off Bortles.

I think Bortles will turn out to be good. He has the prototypical size and can actually play. I liked Bridgewater better but I think we as fans will be happy with this pick. I does go to show you that there is another process to the the draft that we as fans just don't understand.
