We cant leave New York without a RB

Quote:Have you ever seen much of Gerhart? He's a career 4.5 YPA guy. He's no slouch. He just hasn't had the opportunity to be a full time starter.

Very famaliar. He got robbed of the Heisman the year Mark Ingram won. Sample size, plus he ran behind AP. I would be shocked if he averaged 4.5 or broke 1K here in Jacksonville.

LEONARD FOURNETTE FAN CLUB PRESIDENT. I WAS BEHIND HIM WHEN YOU ALL SAID HE WAS BRANDON JACOBS. QUIT HATING ON THE JAGUARS. GUS IS GONE. COUGHLIN HAS RESTORED ORDER. FOURNETTE IS FRED TAYLOR. DONT BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH.

He hasn't had the opportunity -- but he's also unproven.

Adding a rookie would be nice insurance.  Gerhart could even get injured, and then you're stuck with what we've got.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I know Toby isnt a number 1 back. Think what you want.

This. And your previous post about career paths with Jimmy Smith was spot on. Cant use career paths as comparables.

I think we're fine with Toby and Jordan as our RB's it's not a premium position anymore and I don't think we're building around the ground game anymore. Jacksonville is finally moving into the 21st century, it's a passing league and we are going to air it out.

Quote:We could also still trade a late pick for Bryce Brown.
You still going on about that? I prefer running backs who hold onto the ball when tackled.

Quote:I like Carey, I think he can be the Alfred Morris of this years draft. Only issue is character.  A while back they were ranking him as a second round talent, and you can't deny what he did in college.
Up until the 4.8-ish combine time, he was projected as being right up there with Mason, Hyde and Sankey as a top-tier runner in the draft. My thoughts are that tape is greater than everything. Look at the tape--does he look like a 4.8 guy? I'm kind of reminded of Kevin Jones, a running back a decade or so ago, who was projected as a high first-round pick until he ran 4.6 at the combine. He went late in the first, and it was later revealed that the reason he ran 4.6 is because he twitched his wrist and set off the electronic timer early, adding roughly two-tenths of a second to his official time.

How do you know that? Are you God? Because if you are, I'd like to register a complaint. We had three huge thunderstorms in a row, back to back to back over the course of six hours, earlier this week. The first one dropped 3/4" hail, the second dropped 1" hail, and the third dropped a ton of pea-sized hail. My wife's garden is trashed, my car that I just paid off the day before has some little dings in the roof now, and the roof of our house that we so badly need our insurance to replace shows nary a scratch. I ask you: why did you ding up my freshly paid-off car, destroy my wife's garden and leave the freaking roof intact? Seriously, dude, Buddhism sounds pretty good right now.

If I've learned anything about having great backs (while in their prime) like Fred Taylor and MJD over the years, it's that RB is a completely unnecessary position these days. Get someone big and strong to move the chains. Get someone quick with some hands on passing downs. There, done. Replace every time their contract runs up.

With everyone loading up to stop the pass, maybe we'll see teams shift back a bit to emphasize running.

If we do address RB I'd like Storm Johnson

The reason most folks don't think much of Gerhart is obvious...

Quote:There are some very good RB still left and the 4th round has to be a great spot to go after one.

Toby is a grinder but we need a jitter bug on 3rd down

Gerhart is a 3down back.

But Seastrunk or Gaffney would be nice in the 7th

I don't see the need for RB.  Gerhart is the starter, Todman is a decent backup, and DRob is the developmental 3rd down guy with high upside at this time.  LB and OL are my choices for more attention currently.
