Speculation Is That Blackmon Is Done For Good.

He is just a shy awkward country bumpkin that is having a hard time dealing with the fame and attention that is surrounding him. The world has crumbled around him and he hasn't figured out a proper way to deal with it.

He can't even have a tire blow out without people like you telling him how worthless he is. You act like his problems are just for fun. The dude is struggling with life. He is the type of person right now that puts a bullet in his brain.

You seem to think you actually know him.

Cute.

What the hell are you talking about?

He's an idiot. Quit acting like you have some inside information as to the status of his mental health.

He's just a big dumb, immature person that likes to get drunk and drive, and get high and throw away his career.

You feverishly making naive and baseless excuses for his actions is quite a spectacle.

The only thing Dave said was that they can't trust Blackmon for the coming up season.  I guarantee you that if he is able to come back after this season that the team would be happy to have him back if he's gotten his stuff straight.  I would.

Addiction of any kind in my mind is a mental health issue.  If he gets those issues worked out I'd love to have him back.  If either Lee or Robinson turn out to be good then just imagine the WR lineup with Shorts, Blackmon, Ace, Lee/Robinson.  That'd be pretty sweet.

He's done for this season, but I wouldn't go as far as saying he's done permanently.

I have no idea how in this day and age, no one knows anything. No one has seen him, he hasn't said anything. It's almost like he's not on the planet now. There's no tweets from him. No one has just seen him out in public and reported anything. It's weird.

Quote:Bender just did a great job of highlighting it in an above post and the Pacman deal was in THE OLD CBA. So I'm not going to be redundant. I do however have to point out your hypocrisy, you say that you have no problem with players smoking pot, but that they need to follow the rules. BOOM. You just conceited the argument right there, the rule needs to be changed, it is NOT Blackmon's fault. Yes, it is the leagues fault that their punishments are draconian and out of touch and yes it is a problem that needs to be addressed. You make excuses for murders and rapists. A young man in a brutal profession that smokes a plant on his own time does not deserve the punishment of having his livelihood and dreams snatched from him because of some pseudo politically correct agenda that the league has. Funny they don't hold their owners to the same standard.

I have no moral or ethical issues with somebody smoking marijuana, and fully support law change regarding its use. I do have an issue with a player pissing away millions of dollars so he can get drunk and drive around, and smoke pot, while letting down his teammates, his family, his fans, and the team that invested MILLIONS of dollars in him.

Rules are rules. And if my paycheck looked like Blackmon's, you can bet your [BLEEP] I'd have no problem following them.

As for me making excuses for murderers and rapists- not sure what you are even alluding to, but I'll just assume you had one too many Zimas last night, because that is just stupid.

It wasn't the fact that he had a flat tire.  It was the time of night he was out.

He is making his own choices.  You act like he has no control of his life.

But doesn't it seem like they know something?  Gus sounded sad talking about Blackmon and that things weren't going as well as they hoped.  I don't think they mean in regards to the suspension.  It sounds like they are hearing things.

DC implies he's done in Jax? Says this before the draft. Gets 2 solid WRs that " fell " to the team. Then waits on Blackmons situation to take it from there.

Did DC show his hand with Bortles? Did anyone think two WRs? Not many.

So take whatever they say about Blackmon with a grain of salt.

But throwing Blackmon into the mix with the current group? WOW!!

Very true.

As they said, if he ever makes it back, then what a "bonus" that would be.

Quote:Just going to quote this so I can respond and inform you and your friend that players can be traded while they're suspended.

Can he?

He's not even on the roster while suspended.

For the record, I'd have no problem cutting ties with him if that was the front office deems best but I personally don't have enough information to sway me one way or the other as of now.

I know suspended players have been traded in the past. Jags-something-other claims that's the old CBA, which may be, but

I find it odd that the league would require a team to hold onto a malcontent player. Though he's not technically in the league right now, the Jags still own his rights.

They can't cut him till he's back. They won't pay him till he's back. So when he does get back (if he does) I cannot think of a reason why they would cut him then when they could utilize his talent instead. (He would have very little pressure to carry the receiving corps by the way. Imagine what he could do with Lee, Shorts and Robinson also attracting attention from the D.)

This just in:

Addicts behave irresponsibly. Recognition of this reality is not the same as making an excuse, nor is it a reason to not demand accountability.

IMHO, Dave is playing this correctly. He can only control his roster, plan for the worst in regards to Justin, look like a genius either way if the new WRs pan out.

I guess that does seem odd.

Not really a big issue for me though, the team just sent notice that they're moving on. It would be nice to possibly get some picks out of him but I don't see us getting much of anything at this point.

I don't know, it seems like something that the players union might like, and since the agreement was collectively bargained, it's probably reasonable to expect some things might be in there that don't strictly favor the teams.

Sorry, that was poorly articulated. I meant to say that "excuses" in general are made for things more serious like murders and rapists. You don't need to make excuses for Blackmon because if it was just pot, he didn't do anything wrong IMO.

LEONARD FOURNETTE FAN CLUB PRESIDENT. I WAS BEHIND HIM WHEN YOU ALL SAID HE WAS BRANDON JACOBS. QUIT HATING ON THE JAGUARS. GUS IS GONE. COUGHLIN HAS RESTORED ORDER. FOURNETTE IS FRED TAYLOR. DONT BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH.

Actually it is all in the favor of the team, league and players.

League is being pro-active in helping player, takes responsibility from team, nflpa and heat.

Team is not penalized monetarily or or roster wise.

NFLPA is able to point to contract and respond you failed to honor.

Okay, but "wrong" based on what?  Your moral code (or mine for that matter)?  Then I agree.  Legally?  Then we know that depends on where you are (for now).  Based on the rules of his job, that he agreed to in order to cash his check?  No, he's clearly "wrong" there.

Now we can talk all day about whether the rules should be what they are, but you really can't argue on whether he broke those rules.

Of course he did. He put himself before the team. He risked his NFL future and financial future over it. Whether we agree it should or shouldn't be illegal is not the point. As of now it is. He knows this. He made choices and look where he is at. He also has shown a dependency issue. He is not a victim.
