Speculation Is That Blackmon Is Done For Good.

Quote:Okay, but "wrong" based on what?  Your moral code (or mine for that matter)?  Then I agree.  Legally?  Then we know that depends on where you are (for now).  Based on the rules of his job, that he agreed to in order to cash his check?  No, he's clearly "wrong" there.

Now we can talk all day about whether the rules should be what they are, but you really can't argue on whether he broke those rules.

Quote:Of course he did. He put himself before the team. He risked his NFL future and financial future over it. Whether we agree it should or shouldn't be illegal is not the point. As of now it is. He knows this. He made choices and look where he is at. He also has shown a dependency issue. He is not a victim.

All true, but it's a stupid rule with an insane punishment.

LEONARD FOURNETTE FAN CLUB PRESIDENT. I WAS BEHIND HIM WHEN YOU ALL SAID HE WAS BRANDON JACOBS. QUIT HATING ON THE JAGUARS. GUS IS GONE. COUGHLIN HAS RESTORED ORDER. FOURNETTE IS FRED TAYLOR. DONT BELIEVE ME JUST WATCH.

It wasn't just pot though. DUI'S, getting blatantly wasted at Jax bars, pot, etc... and it doesn't look like he has learned. He is putting drugs over his future. That's a problem whether they are legal or not.

When he got his 2nd DUI he was supposed to be at a signing event for kids the next day.

Sure, you're not likely to find a ton of disagreement on this point.  And I'd bet money that it'll change in the near future (once it's legal, it's a forgone conclusion).  But until it is, if you want to keep your job, you know what you must (or must not) do.

While it's not illegal under most circumstances, you are correct that it goes against the set of conduct rules that he falls under. Players can complain about it if they end up in the program, but they have to remember that their union reps have historically fully supported the program. I don't think that will change either. The opposition to the program by the NFLPA would be a PR nightmare for them.

What lies behind us, and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

If Blackmon had been smoking in Seattle or Colorado, he wouldn't have been using an "illegal substance."

You're acting as if your fantasy football team, Madden roster, or fathead collection has a lot riding on his outcome.

Let's just plan on life without him.  If he gets himself together and makes his way back, then we can celebrate him for his accomplishment.

Its sad to see it happen, mental issues that lead to substance issues and then the process of one feeding the other is tragic. Hopefully seeing it happen to someone who had alot going for him will help people realize the severity of it and understand depression and other mental issues can happen even when things are going well. I hope his time away from football allows him to get proper treatment and find a way to manage his issues everyday without using the deadly crutch

When he comes back you have to play him he has too much talent. If he gets in trouble again then it's over and you can know you got burned, but it's still better than just cutting him he didn't even accrue a season last year so let it play out. We just got an insurance policy this draft if he doesn't return or returns only to be suspended again which was smart.

I said back in February the Jags were going to cut ties with him and move on. The kid has the talent of a superstar but sense of an imbecile.

Quote:They may not be able to if he's not reinstated.

He may ride the remainder of it out suspended.

This may be true. He may not file for reinstatement because he's not clean - thus not eligible to be reinstated.

I know we're left to read tea leaves, but Bradley sure sounds as if he's sad that Blackmon hasn't gotten his act together. I know contact with Blackmon is limited, but something seems to have made Bradley give up hope.

And I thought I read (Vito? DiRocco?) that Caldwell was asked if he'd release Blackmon once he's reinstated, and the response was if he's reinstated.

It's all sad, depressing, all of that. For everyone.

The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.
